3. Language: 20 marks
The following concepts of grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, and sentence
structure will be assessed with an integrated approach.
• Grammar: parts of speech
• Vocabulary: converting expressions with precise words
(nouns/verbs/adjectives)
• Punctuation: use of capital letters, punctuation marks
• Types of sentences: compound and complex, use of conjunctions
(coordinating/sub-ordinate, types of clauses)
• Response Writing – of minimum 50 words related to a short text/. The
response will include an analysis of the type of language used in the
text.
From a given short text/s, the following types of questions will be
included:
• Identify (the parts of speech, conjunctions)
• Infer: (meaning of the parts of speech used)
• Re-write: (after correcting or inserting punctuation marks, converting
expression with precise vocabulary)
4. Creative Writing: 25 marks
Students will have to write a composition on either of the two given topics.
