GENERAL FEATURES

• GENERAL WARNINGS

The machine can be operated exclusively by authorized and trained staff and only after having
read and understood the present manual.

The machine must be used exclusively for the purpose for which it has been produced and with
the respective safety devices working. The manufacturer is not responsible in case of any
different use.

Before doing any maintenance, replacing any part and when moving away from the working place
it is absolutely necessary to deactivate the machine by turning off the main switch, remove the
power cable from the socket and cut the air. Exceptions are possible only in case of set up and
functionality checks made by authorized staff trained on purpose.

Interventions on the electric system must be made only by specialized electricians or by staff
trained on purpose.

• MANUFACTURER RESPONSABILITY

JAM INTERNATIONAL is not responsible for any mishap, breaking, accidents due to the missing
knowledge (or non application) of the instructions contained in the present manual. JAM
INTERNATIONAL is not responsible as well for modifications, variations and/or installation of non
previously authorized accessories.

Particularly JAM INTERNATIONAL declines any responsibility for damages due to:

Natural calamities
Wrong manoeuvring
Maintenance missing
Special interventions or machine overhauls made by non authorized staff.
Incorrect use of the machine

SAFETY
• TRAINING
WARNIG! The use of the machine is allowed exclusively to authorized staff properly
trained.
For a proper and safe use of the machine it is necessary to have entirely read and understood the
present manual and the attached instructions.

• SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Do not try to operate the machine until its functioning hasn’t been clearly understood. Anyway
the use of the machine is allowed exclusively to authorized staff properly trained. Do not allow
unauthorized people and especially children to get near the machine.

Before starting the machine, the operator must check the presence of clear faults on the safety
devices and on the machine and immediately report what found to the person in charge.

The only working position suitable for the operator is the fabric loading position, that is behind
the fixed safety bar. Do not occupy other positions different from the above mentioned one
during the machine functioning.

Never start the machine before having advised and averted anyone present nearby it.

Do not use the machine while wearing clothes, ornaments or accessories which can get caught on
any moving part. Gather up long hairs under a cap. Wear clothes which allow to bear objects and
tools in closed pockets.

The machine user must know the safety devices installed on it, as well as the respective proper
modalities of use. Check daily the proper functioning of the emergency buttons and of the safety
devices. Never use the machine without its safety devices properly installed and working.

Pay the maximum attention to every danger and prohibition symbol existing on the machine.

Keep every plate with danger and prohibition symbols in perfect conditions, clearly visible and
readable. In case of tear replace them quickly.

Do not operate the machine with damp hands and objects when it is connected to the electric
system.

Replace the parts considered damaged with original ones or in any case authorized by the
manufacturer. Never try hazardous solutions.

It is extremely dangerous to use the machine without its safety devices (emergency button, belt
protection and so on). Never use the machine without the safety devices.
The safety devices removal is allowed exclusively during the machine maintenance and must be
done exclusively buy specialized staff.

 • NOT ALLOWED USE

The machine JT882P / JT882PB has been produced to be used in the clothing industry to make
seams on jeans and similar and automatic pocket setting.

The machine must never be used for not allowed purposes or for purposes different
from those for which it has been produced. The manufacturer is not responsible for
improper use of the machine.

• INDIVIDUAL SAFETY DEVICES

During the machine running as well as during the maintenance and clearing operations it is suggested
to use the following individual safety devices: working clothes, shoes with anti-skid sole and gloves.

Wear the protective glasses when using the machine to avoid that, in case of needle breaking, the
possible splinters could hit the eyes.

Use the protective glasses and gloves when using lubricants and greases, in order to avoid the
contact with eyes and skin and the consequent risk of irritations and inflammations

The employer is compelled to provide the operator with the Individual Safety Devices and to inform
him about their proper use and maintenance.

• REMAINING RISKS

The machine has been designed and produced with the suitable devices to assure the maximum
operator safety.
Where remaining risks exist, these are pointed out through proper labels and danger and prohibition
symbols.

• SAFETY SIGNS

On the machine there are some labels showing the following symbols to highlight dangers and
prohibitions existing on the machine.

ELECTRIC DANGER
This symbol points out the existence of a danger caused by the electric power.

HANDS CRUSHING DANGER

PROTECTION REMOVAL PROHIBITION

This symbols points out the prohibition to remove the safety devices.

MOVING – STORAGE – DISPOSAL
WARNING! Any machine transport, moving and storage operation described in this
chapter must be carried out exclusively by qualified staff having suitable knowledge
to operate safely forklift trucks, crane trucks and anything else necessary to the
purpose.

• MOVING

To avoid that any part may hurt the persons in case of machine fall, be sure that during the lifting
and moving operations there are no persons inside the action range of the lifting machines.

To lift up and move the machine it is necessary to use suitable means of transport according to its
weight.

Before starting moving the machine, check its stability.

• STORAGE

In case of long storage, keep the machine in a dry place, sheltered from rain and wind.

Protect well the electrical parts from the dust and from external agents.

The machine may suffer heavy damages if, while waiting for the installation, it is kept in
environments with critical temperatures. Never expose it to temperatures lower thatn –10° C and
higher than +60°C.

Do not deposit the machine or its parts in structures which have not been suitably built.

It is forbidden to put on the machine any material or equipments.

• DEMOLITION AND DISPOSAL

The disposal of the waste which comes out from the machine demolition must be carried out
respecting the environment, avoiding to pollute the ground, the air and the water.

For a proper disposal it is necessary to respect the local laws in force.

MOVING AND TRANSPORTATION

• LIFTING

WARNING :
The lifting operation must be carried out with the maximum care and by AUTHORIZED STAFF only.

During the lifting operations no unauthorized people are allowed to stand nearby.
To lift up and to position the machine use a forklift truck of proportionate dimensions and sturdiness.
Insert the forklift under the machine, be sure to take it for the entire width, fasten it well with belts
or ropes and lift it paying attention that it doesn’t tilt on one side.

• PACKAGE

The kind of package may be different according to the machine, the mean of transport and the
destination.
In a wooden crate in case of transport by sea or by air.
Wrapped in a protection film to be transported with road vehicles.

• AIR NOISE UTTERED BY THE MACHINE

The machine described in this manual does not represent a risk factor itself as the peak level of the
acoustic pressure on the workplace is minimum.
Therefore the possible high level of acoustic pressure existing in the environment where the machine
runs cannot be charged to it.

The weighed acoustic pressure level on the working station does not exceed 70 dB(A)

USE OF THE MACHINE
After having unpacked the machine put it in its working place in a flat and stable position.

• MINUMUM DISTANCES FOR A PROPER MAINTENANCE

Leave a free space of at least 50 cm on each side of the machine.

• CONNECTION TO THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM

Connect the power cable to the socket.

WARNING:
Be sure that the power tension corresponds to the one indicated by the manufacturer in the
specifications written on this manual.

Be sure to connect properly the earth cable. If the connection of the earth is not safe, there could be
the risk to get an electric shock and some problems with the correct machine functioning could
occur.

Use the machine in areas electric/electromagnetic noise sources free. Such disturbs could cause
problems to the correct machine running.

In case of lightning or electric storms, switch off the machine and disconnect the power cable from
the socket to avoid functioning problems or damages to the machine.

• CONNECTION TO THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM

Connect the air pipe to the quick pipe fitting located on the pressure governor, let the air in and
check that the air gauge signals a maximum pressure as described in the specifications.
If necessary adjust the pressure on the correct value by lifting and turning the knob of the pressure
governor clockwise to increase it or anticlockwise to reduce it.
Block the knob when the air gauge indicates a correct pressure.

1 STARTING
Before switching on the machine check that the emergency buttons are unblocked and position some pieces of
fabric under the loading and sewing clamps.

1.1 Switch on the machine by turning the main switch from OFF to ON

1.2 Press the green button, the screen shown in figure 2 will
appear

1.3 Press both the touch screens in their centres as pointed

out by the arrow (fig. 2). The screen HOME will appear
as in figure 3.

1.4 Press at the same time the start buttons (located on the
right and left side of the fabric holder bar shown in fig.
4). The machine moves to its home position and lifts up
the needle and the presser foot.

When the machine is in its home position the loader is positioned backward, the loading clamp sensor up is on ON, the
folder sensor up is on ON, the folder sensor back is ON, the external sewing clamp sensor up is ON, the internal (fixed or
retractable) sensor is OFF, the presser foot and the needle are up.

3 LOADING A SEWING PROGRAM ON THE

MACHINE FROM THE USB KEY

3.1.1 I° SEWING STATION: Insert the USB Key in the

proper device.

3.1.2 With the automatic button deactivated, press the

“right pedal” of the I° sewing station and the screen as
in figure 6-I will appear.

3.1.3 II° SEWING STATION: Insert the USB key in the

proper device.

3.1.4 Press the “pedal” of the II° sewing station and the
screen as in figure 6-II will appear.

3.1.5 Press the button “open” and the screen as in

figure 7 will appear.

3.1.6 Press the button “CN IN” and the screen as in

figure 8 will appear. Check that the USB symbol
is green (USB key present)

3.1.7 Select the program by using the arrows, press the button “open” and wait that the file transfer is completed.

 4 AUTOMATIC CYCLE
4.1 CHOOSING THE “STANDARD STACKER” OR THE “SMALL PIECES STACKER”

4.1.1 To enable the standard stacker press the button “standard stacker” (green=activated / red=deactivated)

4.1.2 To enable the small pieces stacker press the button “SMALL PIECES STACKER” (it is activated when it
remains pressed)

WARNING! Pay attention to not activate both the stackers at the same time.

4.2 LABEL CHOOSING

4.2.1 Press the button “labels” from the I° sewing station main screen (figure5a).

4.2.2 The machines executes a different function according to the icon displayed:

I. : no label, the machine works in automatic standard mode.

II. : alternate label setting, it is executed in alternating cycles: after the pocket folding the machine stops to allow
the label insert under the pocket. Press the start buttons (figure 4) to restart the machine.

III. : consecutive label setting, it is executed in every cycle: after the pocket folding the machine stops to allow the
label insert under the pocket. Press the start buttons (figure 4) to restart the machine.

4.3 CHOOSING WORKING HEAD

The machine can work with one or both the sewing heads: when choosing the single head the I° sewing station will be used.
When using one single sewing head and the stacker is activated, the sewing clamp of the II ° sewing station moves on its back
low position

4.3.1 Press the button “working head” on the I° or II° sewing station main screen (figures 5a ; 5b ).

4.3.2 The machine executes a different function according to the icon displayed:

4.3.3 : the machine works with both the sewing stations at the same time.

4.3.4 : the machine works with the I° sewing station only.

4.4 AUTOMATIC CYCLE

4.4.1 Press the “automatic” button (green=activated / red=deactivated) on the I° sewing station opening screen (Figure
5a )

4.4.2 Once the “automatic” button is activated, place the trousers quarter upon the suction device on the most suitable
position for the correct pocket setting.

4.4.3 Press the left pedal to move forward the folder plate. Press again the left pedal to move it backward.

4.4.4 Set the pocket on the folder plate fixing it under the holding springs and paying attention to lean well the pocket edge
against the stopper plates.

4.4.5 Press the “start” buttons at the same time (Figure 4)

4.5 MACHINE SEQUENCE

4.5.1 After pressing the “start” buttons, the folder lowers itself on the folding plate to make the pocket folding.

4.5.2 The folding plate lowers itself upon the fabric

4.5.3 The loading clamp moves upon the folding plate and lowers itself on it in order to contain the folded pocket.

4.5.4 The folding plate withdraws

DOUBLE SEWING HEAD WORKING MODE

4.5.5 The loading clamp moves on the “loading point” (under the I° station sewing clamps)

4.5.6 The internal sewing clamp lowers

4.5.7 The loading clamp lifts up

4.5.8 The loader moves to the home position

4.5.9 The external sewing clamp lowers

4.5.10 The sewing cycle starts

4.5.11 At the end of the sewing cycle the translator moves to the loading point

While the machine is stitching and the loader is at its home position it is possible to load another garment to work in
sequence.

To stop the machine during the folding or loading operation, press the button “FOLDER RESET”.
To stop the machine during the stitching operation press the button “STOP STITCHING”.

5 THREAD BREAKING
5.1 When the thread sensor is activated, while the machine is stitching and a needle thread breaking occurs or the thread
finishes, the machine stops automatically.

5.1.1 Restore the thread

5.1.2 Press the manual backward movement button or the manual forward movement button to get on the
chosen point

5.1.3 Press the start buttons (fig.4) at the same time for the I° sewing station

5.1.4 Press the button “sewing start” for the II° sewing station.

If the machine shows again the same alarm, check carefully the thread and the needle position and the timing between the
needle and the hook, then repeat the operation described on point 5.1.2

 6 BOBBIN ALARM
6.1 BOBBING ALARM SETTING

6.1.1 From the main screen ( Fig. 5a ; 5b ) press the button “bobbin counter set up” (circled in red) , and a
numerical keyboard will appear

6.1.2 Set the chosen number (which corresponds to the “number of stitches”)

6.1.3 Press “ENTER” to confirm and return to the previous screen

6.2 BOBBIN ALARM

6.2.1 During the stitching, when the bobbin counter reaches the pre-set number and the seam ends, the machine stops. On
the “alarm string” (17) “BOBBIN ALARM” will appear.

6.2.2 Replace the bobbin and check the correct threading.

6.2.3 Reset the counter by pressing twice the button “bobbin counter reset”

6.2.4 Resume working normally

6.2.5 If the problem occurs again repeat the operations described on point 6.2.2, 6.2.3, and 6.2.4

7 WINDING THE BOBBIN
7.1 MECHANICAL BOBBIN WINDER

7.1.1 Insert the empty bobbin in the proper pin.

7.1.2 Wind the thread round the bobbin for a few rounds.

7.1.3 Hook the full bobbin signalling lever.

7.1.4 Take off the thread from the needle.

7.1.5 With the automatic button deactivated, press the pedal until the screen appears as in fig. 9.

7.1.6 Press the button “bobbin winding” , the sewing head starts turning and the bobbin starts to fill up.

7.1.7 When the “full bobbin” signalling lever is automatically disconnected, press the button “bobbin winding” , to
stop the sewing head.

7.1.8 Take out the full bobbin from the pin.

7.1.9 Cut the thread.

7.1.10 Put the full bobbin in the bobbin case and insert the thread in the proper spaces.

7.1.11 Put the bobbin case in the space located under the sewing head in the correct direction.

7.1.12 Thread the needle

7.1.13 Press the button “EXIT” , the screen will appear as in 3.

7.1.14 Press the button “RESET” , to go back to the main screen figure 6.

The bobbin winding can be made even while the machine is running following the instructions described in point 7.1.1,
7.1.2, 7.1.3, and working normally.

7.2 ELECTRONIC BOBBIN WINDER

7.2.1 Insert the empty bobbin in the proper pin.

7.2.2 Wind the thread manually round the bobbin for a few rounds.

7.2.3 Press the red button, the bobbin starts to turn.

7.2.4 When the thread in the bobbin interrupts the full bobbin sensor signal, the bobbin stops.

7.2.5 Follow the instructions described on point 7.1.8 to point 7.1.11.

If the thread in the bobbin is exceeding or is not enough, adjust the full bobbin sensor.

8 SEWING PATH TEST
I° SEWING STATION SEWING PATH TEST

8.1.1 From the main screen ( Fig. 5a ), with the “automatic” button disconnected, press the button “SEWING TEST”
which will remain pressed.

8.1.2 Press the right pedal of the I° sewing station, the screen will appear as in Fig. 6-I, the sewing clamps lower.
Pressing again the pedal, the sewing clamps lift up.

8.1.3 Press the “START” buttons ( Fig.4 ) at the same time, the sewing clamps move to the stitching start point.

8.1.4 Press the “manual forward movement” button , to go ahead in the sewing path.

8.1.5 After a few movements, pressing the I° sewing station “right pedal”, it is possible to lower and lift the presser foot.

8.1.6 Check that during the sewing path the needle and/or the presser foot do not knock against the sewing clamps.

8.1.7 To go back on the sewing path, press the button “manual backward movement” .

8.1.8 Pressing the “right pedal” while pressing the “manual forward movement” button or the “manual backward
movement” button, the sewing path will be made at a higher speed.

8.1.9 Once checked the sewing path, press the “RESET” button , the machine moves to the home position and the
“TEST” button is automatically released.

8.1.10 If the sewing path is not correct or is not satisfactory, read CAREFULLY the chapter “SEWING PROGRAM
ADJUSTMENT”.

II° SEWING STATION SEWING PATH TEST

8.1.11 From the main screen ( Fig. 5b ), press the button “SEWING TEST” which remains pressed.

8.1.12 Press the II sewing station pedal, the screen will appear as in Fig. 6-II, the sewing clamps lower.
Pressing again the pedal the sewing clamps lift up.

8.1.13 Press the button “SEWING START” , the sewing clamps move to the stitching start point.

8.1.14 Press the “manual forward movement” button , to go ahead in the sewing path.

8.1.15 After a few movements, pressing the II° sewing station “pedal”, it is possible to lower and lift the presser foot.

8.1.16 Check that during the sewing path the needle and/or the presser foot do not knock against the sewing clamps.

8.1.17 To go back on the sewing path press the “manual backward movement” button .

8.1.18 Pressing the “pedal” while pressing the “manual forward movement” button or the “manual backward movement”
button, the sewing path will be made at a higher speed.

8.1.19 Once checked the sewing path, press the “RESET” button , the machine will move to the home position and the
“TEST” button will be automatically released.

8.1.20 If the sewing path is not correct or is not satisfactory, read CAREFULLY the chapter “SEWING PROGRAM
ADJUSTMENT”.

23 RELEASING THE SEWING HEAD

THE SEWING HEAD OF THE I° SEWING STATION IS AN ELECTRIC AXE BETWEEN THE
NEEDLE AND THE HOOK.
Once the machine is switched on, the sewing head motors, after having made the home position, stay in tension to avoid
that the needle and the hook break the timing.
To move manually the sewing head:

23.1.1 Press the button “release the I° station sewing head” , (remains pressed), to allow the sewing head to be
turned manually in order to check the timing, the needle position and so on...

23.1.2 Turn the sewing head through the proper hand wheel located under the lower part.

23.1.3 Once the possible adjustments or checking have been made press the button “release the I° station sewing
head” , paying very much attention that the two arrows of the “needle position display” appear both on
the display.
