Cep Project

The project aimed to understand women's empowerment in a village in Bhubaneswar, India. The group divided into teams to survey topics like health, education, social status, literacy rates, and women's roles in families and society. They developed questions to evaluate the current situation of women. Their teacher Dr. SKS Parashar led the community and environment section project to create awareness, develop positive attitudes towards women's rights, increase female education, and study women's impact on rural development. One of the sustainable development goals is gender equality and women's empowerment, which the project sought to advance by understanding women's empowerment at the local level.

Introduction

Women empowerment is the process of empowering women. The word empowerment can be
defined in various ways; empowerment means accepting and including the people who are not
empowering, make them empowering in various fields, outside in decision-making process into
it. Women empowerment is one of the most important concepts for overall development of
the nation. Empowerment is the process that enables the power of the individuals over their

conditions of women through education; literacy, raising training and awareness program, and
give them to training that makes empowered them. Women's empowerment is all about
accepting and allowing women to stand take self decisions in the society.
The project was held in the form of a survey where our group was divided into many teams
each one covering a specific topic.Out of which my team had to cover the topic "Women
Empowerment".We prepared a set of questions that covered almost every aspect that would
help us to evaluate the current situation of women in the village. The project was done at
Khorda which is a village in Bhubaneswar. We covered topics on various aspects like:
>Health

Women are known for delivering multiple roles effortlessly per day, and thus, they are
considered the backbone of every society. Living in male-dominating societies, women play a

Women empowerment in India is the most effective tool for development as these days;

factors including
Gathering all the required data was a tough job. It was because of the various
the language barrier.To
the sensitivity of topic, the uncertain reaction of the locals as well as
experience to
tackle these problems , we got the help of our senior students who had the
communicate with local people. After the teams were distributed , we did the following steps

" We moved from house to house and talked tothe people.

" We asked about the safety and independence of women in the society.
We asked is their was any domestic violence that led to death or any serious injuries
caused to women in last five years.
" We asked the changes in the literacy rate of girls in last five years.
" We asked the involvement of women in any government sectors.
" We asked about the major occupation that women do in the community.
" We asked if women were involved in public speaking.
DATA COLLECTION

From the queries,we found that girls' literacy rate has increased by huge margins since last 5
years. The girls also go outside the village for higher studies. However no female has been there
at any higher or governmental posts. This clearly indicates that women are not intended to
Work at any social services. No cases of women violence or abuse were recorded in last 5 years
which is also a good thing. Besides it was also noted that a huge population of the community
was involved in panipuri business where women use to make them and men use to sell them.

FIELD VISIT EXPERIENCE

It was a wonderful experience to be a part of this project. We came know about the local
people, their way of living, their social structure, as well as the practical experience of
communication and teamwork. This experience is going to help us in long term as we learned
about proper team coordination and communication skills. Field visits can provide valuable
insights and first-hand experiences that are not available through desk-based research or other
methods. They can also help build relationships with localcommunities and stakeholders and
promote greater understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by marginalized or
vulnerable populations. This too was nodifferent than others.
