CHAPTER 1

1. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The effectiveness of specific study habits still questions researchers about how it can

help students quantify and apply what they have learned and progress toward their academic

grades. These study habits by college students are used concurrently, and have a possibility

that some of them have embraced the practice, which causes their high general weighted

average. The researchers believe that specific activities for assigned study habit may help

nursing students be more productive and increase their academic performance.

2. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

The theory anchored in this study is “The Theory of Goal Attainment” by Imogene King

who first introduced it in the 1960s. The theory focuses on attaining specific life goals and

explains the factors that affect roles, stress, space, and time. Her theory is patterned to set the

human experience for optimistic psychological positive connection as reactive, action-oriented

beings when establishing goals to achieve. (quillbot please)

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

The researchers wanted to conduct a study without any problems to be met. These

ethics are considered for a smooth flow of the research during the process.

Ethics:

 Informed consent

 Confidentiality

 Voluntary participation

 Validity

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This research is significant to help and aid the various sectors of the society. Among the

beneficiaries are the following: (remove “to”)

- To the teachers.
- To the school.

- To the parents.

- To the students.

- To the researchers.

- To the Future researchers.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The researchers utilized quantitative research through correlational case study. Quantitative

approach in the study will be used because the detailed information from the representative

sample was required and generalizing of results and comparison across population was

desired. Through a correlational study, it describes the study habits and academic

performances of third and fourth year nursing students. It will determine the extent to which the

study habits are related to academic performances.
