Sumpah Pemuda Day
Sumpah Pemuda Day
Good morning.Today, I stand before you to commemorate a momentous occasion in our nation’s
history – the Sumpah Pemuda, or the Youth Pledge. This event, which took place on the 28th of
October in 1928, marked a turning point in the struggle for our independence. It was a declaration
made by our young forefathers, promising to uphold one homeland, one nation, and one language
– Indonesia.
The spirit of Sumpah Pemuda is not just a part of our history, but it is the very essence of our
identity as Indonesians. It is a testament to our unity in diversity and a reminder that our strength
lies in our togetherness.
In today’s modern era, the spirit of Sumpah Pemuda should not only be remembered, but also
lived. As the youth of today, we are the torchbearers of this pledge. We are the ones who will carry
our nation forward, towards progress and prosperity.
So, how do we, as the youth, advance Indonesia? The answer lies in our hands. We must strive for
excellence in our respective fields, whether it be in education, technology, arts, or culture. We must
embrace innovation and creativity, for they are the driving forces of progress.
But most importantly, we must not forget our roots. We must remember the values that our
forefathers fought for and continue to uphold them. We must remember that despite our
differences, we are one – one nation, one language, one Indonesia.
Let us, the youth of today, take a pledge. A pledge to work tirelessly towards the advancement of
our nation. A pledge to uphold the spirit of Sumpah Pemuda. A pledge to make Indonesia a beacon
of progress and prosperity.
In the age of digital transformation, we, the youth, have the potential to be the game-changers. We
have the power to use technology to solve real-world problems, to create solutions that can improve
the lives of millions of Indonesians.
Let us use this power responsibly. Let us use it to create a better future for our nation. Let us use
it to uphold the spirit of Sumpah Pemuda, to work towards the advancement of our nation.
We, the youth of today, are the leaders of tomorrow. We have the potential to shape the future of
our nation. But to do so, we must remember our roots. We must remember the values that our
forefathers fought for. We must remember that we are one – one nation, one language, one
Indonesia.
Let us take a moment to reflect on our journey as a nation. Let us remember the sacrifices made
by our forefathers, the struggles they endured, the victories they achieved. Let us remember the
spirit of Sumpah Pemuda, the pledge that has shaped our nation.
As we stand here today, let us make a pledge. A pledge to uphold the spirit of Sumpah Pemuda. A
pledge to work tirelessly towards the advancement of our nation. A pledge to make Indonesia a
beacon of progress and prosperity.
Thank you.”
