- Remove front bumper 63-1, Bumper


cover, removing and installing

- Remove wheelhousing liner 66-1,


Front wheel housing liner, assembly
overview

- On vehicles with intercooler, remove


pressure hoses 50-1, Vehicles with
intercooler

- Remove the seal on the lock carrier.

- Remove bolts - 7 - and - 8 - , on left and


right, and remove the side guide trim - 6 -
from the fenders.

- Remove bolts - 4 - from the upper lock


carrier.

- Remove bolts - 5 - from the lock carrier


bracket.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - from the side rails,


on left and right.

- Install the special tool guide pins T


10093 , on left and right.

- Remove the remaining bolts - 1 - and - 2


- from the side rails.

- Lock carrier - 1 - can be pulled about 10 cm (4 in.) forward


on special tool guide pins T 10093 .

Service position, resetting

- When resetting lock carrier, make sure that each intake


pipe - 1 - is properly seated on air cleaner - 2 - in area of
wheel housing - arrow - .

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

- Align lock carrier at sidemembers and between fenders.

- Disconnect connector - 2 - and pull pressure hose - 1 - in


direction of - arrow - , upward out of connector.

Note:

„ The lock carrier is a safety-relevant component, for


this reason it must not be serviced.

„ If damaged, lock carrier must be replaced.

clutch 55-2, Bowden cable, detaching

- On vehicles with intercooler, remove


pressure hoses 50-1, Vehicles with

connectors.

- Remove the seal on the lock carrier.

- Drain coolant and disconnect coolant

- Remove bolts - 6 - and - 7 - , on left and


right, and remove the side guide trim - 5 -
from the fenders.

- Remove bolts - 8 - and - 9 - .

- Remove bolts - 2 - and - 3 - and, with


the help of another technician, lift out the
lock carrier - 1 - together with the bumper
carrier - 4 - .

Warning!

If the air conditioning and/or coolant lines have been


disconnected, the engine may no longer be started.

Note:

„ Do not hang condenser and hydraulic oil cooler by


the lines.

„ Do not kink condenser and hydraulic lines.

Installing

- When installing lock carrier, make sure that each intake


pipe - 1 - is properly seated on air cleaner - 2 - in area of
wheel housing - arrow - .

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

- Center lock carrier on side rails and between fenders


Technical data; Body gap dimensions; Body - Front .
