Week 13 MMW LP

The document is a learning plan from Bestlink College of the Philippines for a mathematics course. It outlines the vision, mission, objectives, topics, and procedures for the lesson. The key points are: 1) The vision is to equip graduates with knowledge, skills, and attitudes for post-secondary education and the workforce. 2) The mission is focused on student learning and accountability through a respectful learning environment. 3) The lesson will cover measures of central tendency including mean, median, and mode. Students will learn how to calculate and apply these to solve problems. 4) The teacher will use activities and group work while the students participate and discuss the concepts. Assessment questions are also provided

Instructions:
% of 1) Instruct students to calculate the
passing mean, median, and mode for each data
set.
2) Encourage students to discuss their
answers and reasoning within their
groups.

Assessment Questions:
1) What is the difference between the
mean and median?
2) How does an outlier affect the mean
and the median?
3) When would you use the mode
instead of the mean or median?

Central Tendency for Ungrouped

Data

Central Tendency is a statistical

measure to determine a single score
B. Lesson Proper that defines the center of a distribution.
The central tendency is to identify the
“average” or “typical” of the entire
group. There are three measures of
central tendency: mean, median, and
mode.

Example: Supposed you had your

quizzes, and you scored 8/10 in one of
them. Would you be happy with your
score? You had a very decent score at
its face value, and you would consider
yourself you have done a great job. But
looking at your classmates’ scores, you
see that most of them scored 9/10 and
10/10. Would you be happy?
Sometimes our performance in any quiz
is not just dependent on how we did,
but we also consider how others did in
the same test. For example, in the Math
quiz, your percentage is 80, while your
classmates are between 90-100
percent. Would you be happy with your
score given the scenario? So how do
you decide then? What additional
information would you like?

If you are like most students, you will

immediately ask your classmates about
their scores. Comparing your scores to
a distribution of scores is fundamental
to statistics. So, let’s explore it further,
using the same example (the quizzes
you took with your classmates).

The following are the outcomes:

C. Application Students will

participate in the
given activity.

Based on the table shown to which

subject did you do better than the
others, and which subject did you
perform below them? The table shows
you did well in Understanding the Self,
Purposive Communication, and Filipino
sa Iba’t-Ibang Disiplina. Since you
scored above the mean or average and
median, while you did poorly in Math
because you fell below the mean and
median.

A statistical measure that determines a

single c=score that defines its center of
the distribution is the central tendency.
This aims to determine the most typical
or usual score in a distribution.
Students will
answer the
evaluation on a ¼
sheet of paper.
