Accelerator: is installed below the rope socket to create optimum upward jarring when jar up.
Is used in shallow depths, less than 300m.
To determine the blind box dia. to pass thru wire to cut at rope socket with wire cut:
Td – D/2 + d/2 = blind box diameter
Td = Tbg. dia./ D=Rope socket dia./d=wire dia.
GO-Devil cutter length is depend on well content :
Long cutter: in heavy oil / Short cutter: in light fluid

Metric counter serial no.: 743425-003 ratio 1-1 m

: 116425-011 1:1.6 m

Expansion joint/telescoping traveling joint: are installed for thermal expansion of Tbg.

Mill out extension is used with permanent packers.

Grade: indicates the strength and type of steel used to make the Tbg. as J-55/C-75/L-80 the lower
the number the softer the steel.

Tbg. threads type:

- for low pressures: External upset and Non-Upset
- for high pressures: N.Vam / Hydril.

It is important to spool new line correctly:

- approximately 300 Lbs of tension is recommended during spooling
- Bedding layer: 4.6 to provide a firm base and give an indication of wire low level.

fire triangle:
Flammable Material.
Oxygen.
Heat enough to raise the fire
Stuffing boxes: all sizes of slick line
To seal around the wire at the upper end of lubricator during wireline operations.
Packing nut is used to increase the compression force on the pkg. as they wear.
The sheave moves 360º free movement.
Sheave guard is designed to trap wire which breaks on surface before it drops in down hole.
The injection port is used for:
-to inject glycol or methanol when freezing
-inject inhibitors to protect the wire from corrosive gases as H2 S.
-to activate BOP plunger if not sealed.
The rated pressures are 5000,10,000 and higher if required.
The stuffing box is the same but these sizes changed:
-upper gland
-lower gland
-sheave diameter (10” f/0.092” wire and 15” f/0.108” wire)

Hyd. Stuffing boxes w/hyd. Pkg. nut are used when:

-it is not easily to reach st. box during operations.
-on high pressure wells.
-on wells containing H2 S.

W/L units:
50 hrs change engine oil
500 hrs change hyd. Oil
150 hrs. adjust drive chain and grease hyd. Motor.
150 hrs. to change 0.108” wire

DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE ACROSS SSD

What is the differential pressure between the annulus and Tbg. at SSD at depth 8200-ft?
- The tbg/csg annulus is filled with a 10.29 ppg brine.
- CITHP IS 600 PSI.
- Gas specific gravity is 0.6 from 4000 ft.
- Oil gravity is 32 API from 4000 to 12000 ft.

solution
HP of brine in Ann. @ SSD:
= 0.052 X density X true vertical depth
= 0.052 X 10.29 X 8200 = 4387 psi

HP of gas = gas correction factor X CITHP

= 1.087 X 600 = 652 psi

HP of oil = 0.433 X SG X depth

SG = 141.5 / 131.5 + API = 141.5 / 131.5 + 32 = .865
HP of oil = 0.433 X 0.865 X 4200 = 1575 psi

Total HP in Tbg. = HP of gas + HP of oil

= 652 + 1575 = 2227 psi
Differential pressure across SSD:
= HP of Annulus - HP of Tbg.
= 4387 - 2227 = 2160 psi

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “FWG” AND “FMH” ?

FWG: external fishing neck with equalizing prong ( one trip to run / two trips to pull)
FMH: internal fishing neck with removable prong ( two trips to run / two trips to pull)
What are the pulling / Running tool for DK or DKs SCSSV?

Running tool: X-Running tool + Running Prong

Pulling tool: GR pulling tool + pulling Prong
Set in XEL nipple

What is the difference between “A” probe and “A” shank?

“A” probe is used to pull “S” locks to retract the upper facing keys when pulling.
“A” shank is used to run “S” locks to retract the down facing keys when running.

What is the benefit of “A” Guide?

It’s function is basically a prong carrier to center and limit the penetration of a wireline prong
during equalizing operation. It is provided by external fluting to avoid tools blown up.

“A” probe , shank, guide:

“A” Probe: used when pulling “S” locks to retract upper facing locks.
“A” Shank: used when running “S” locks to retract the down facing locks
“A” guide: is a prong carrier, its function is to center and limit the penetration of a wireline prong
during equalizing operations.. bypass area for equalizing operations is provided by external
fluting.

“D-2” Shifting Tool:

Check the dimension “A” : the distance between bottom of collet and top of dogs as follow:

“A, AC, B” Probes:

“A” : probe has a bottom thread to carry prong.

“AC”: same “A” but has no bottom thread.
“B” probe: to pull “W , Z” locks and has a bottom thread to carry prongs.
“M” Running / Pulling tool (Baker):
used to run or pull any wireline equipment having an internal fishing neck, shear by jar down.

“A” Spear: Baker pulling tool to pull out removable seating nipple or model “K-2” straddle pack
off.

TSB, FSB, RZB AND FWB:

TSB: Land and lock in the collar recess in the Tbg. string.
FSB, RZB AND FWB: Land in seating nipple or nipple insert.

Accelerators:

-It is installed immediately below rope socket, used at shallow depths i.e less than 300 m. the
spring replaces the stretch of the wireline which exists when jarring deep.
-Reduce the shock loading at the rope socket and cause the stem to accelerate faster when the
hyd. Jars go off. This create a more effective impact.

Side Wall Cutter:

-It is designed to run down the well beside the broken wire and cut against the tbg. wall.
-can be run on a shear down tool (SB) or on a “C” running tool.
-the cutters have a shear pin which prevent them expanding prematurely.
-Cut wire must be recovered before any attempt is made to pull this cutter as the loose end of the
wire would bail up ABOVE the cutter.
-when running, it is advisable to use a rope socket knot with only 1 ½ wraps. It is possible for the
cut end of the wire to become entangled in the tool string, and the use of this weak rope socket
knot will allow the tool string to be left behind.

USES OF TEST TOOLS:

1- Test tubing
2- To set hydraulic packers.
3- To protect the lower formation while stimulating the upper zone.

TYPES OF TEST TOOLS:

1- "N" TEST TOOL:

Designed to run in XN nipples and hold pressure from above, all V-Packing face upward. It is set
alone or latch by wire while testing.

2- 'X' SELECTIVE TEST TOOL:

Designed to be set in compatible 'X' or "XN' landing nipples. Hold pressure from above .its
mechanism same X-Running tool. Can be set in SSD profile- can move up to perform many tests
in one trip to minimize runs.

Modified PX test tool:

Hold pressure from above so V-pacing on lock and prong faced up, the lock mandrel is run
without keys so prong / mandrel can be run on SB in one trip. Pull with GR or GS.

Conventional Pulling Tool:

The contact area against the external fishing neck is 50%, there a chance for damage.

Heavy Duty Pulling Tool:

The contact area against the external fishing neck is 95%, this reduces the chance of damage to F/N.

Circle:

A = Area = π r2 = 0.785 D2 [ r(radius) = D/2 ]

C= πD
F0 = Centigrade x 1.8 + 32
Co = Fahrenheit – 32o x 0.5555

Rule of Thumb: for finding the fill up volume of any size pipe is the inside diameter squared equals
barrels per 1000 ft
ID2 = bbls / 1000 ft

Wire Stretch:

Total Stretch = F X Wt + F(Wt + W1) xL

F = STRETCH FACTOR(inches/feet/Lbs)
Wt = weight of toolstring (Lbs)
W1 = weight of wireline in well(Lbs)
L = length of line in well (ft)

SSJ tool:

It is a double shear down adapter is designed to be added on "S" series running / pulling tool
when a 'J' (long reach) core is fitted.
SSJ is the correct running tool for the 'N' ,'Q' , selective testing tool and PX test tool because:
i- the long reach core permits the 'dart' ( fishing neck) of the test tool to float upwards of
the scaling seal to provide fluid bypass. This is essential to permit the test tool to pass
through the nipple seal bores of the same size as packing.
ii- Downward jarring force is between the skirt and top sub of the test tool, and not
absorbed against the dart or seal surface.
- "SSJ" tool to be sheared by jarring downwards on EITHER the core or skirt. The core SB or
SS tools must have contact to enable them in to be sheared.
- it is easier to repin and can also be added to "s" tools with "B" and "s" cores i.e ssb or sss.
Important: shear pin must be removed from pulling tool and if left will prevent the tool from
shearing.

DK SCSSV:
Run with x-running tool plus running prong.
Pull with GR plus pulling prong with a brass tip.
Size pulling tool
27/8 40GR23100
31/2 40GR27500
41/2" 40GR36800
-WRDP-2 Camco valve 6000 psi self equalizing
- BM,BMX,BMR series-10 tbg ret. Scssv,non-equalizing OTIS.
-isolation assembly(sleeve): to protect the TRSV from completion fluids.

Long /short string:

The long string has shorter cap tree and the short string has longer cap tree.
MMG side pocket mandrels accept 11/2" valves.
KBUG/KBMG: accept 1" valve

Amerada types: RPG-3,4,5 pressure elements.

RT-7,RT-8 temperature elements.
In very high temp. Use unbellows instead of bellows.

"w" Slip lock type hold pressure 1500 psi from below only because it release by jar down and
use 'w' running tool to run and 'RB' + equalizing prong to pull out.
Collar locks hold pressure from above and below and set in Eu and Nu tbg. , not set in new
vam or hydril because there are no collar recess, run with 'D' running tool and pull with GRL
+ equalizing prong.

JDC: short reach option to latch rope socket type necks.

JDS: medium reach option to latch necks with thread, such as stem..etc..

TO CALCULATE STEM LENGTH:

given: 0.108 wire, depth pressure 5000 psi, and stem size 1.785
how to calculate stem length?

wire area = 0.785 x (0.108)² = 0.0092 in²

f = pxa = 5000 x 0.0092 = 46 lbs.
stem weight = (od)² x 8/3 = (1.875)² x 8/3 = 9 .4 lb/ft
stem length = weight (force) / stem weight (lb/ft)
= 46 / 9.4 = 5 ft
