Method Statement for Installation of Public Address System.
This document describes the methodology for the installation of Public Address and Mass notification System in Project,
and to ensure that all concerned persons are familiar with the sequence of activities, utilization of resources, and
execution of the works in compliance with applicable Safety and Quality Procedures, and Project Documents and
Specification.
2. Scope of Works
This method statement is intended to outline the activities and the methods used for installation of Public Address and
Mass notification System panels and accessories. All activities will be carried out in accordance with the contract details
and in full compliance to the Contract Specifications and Documents. All work within the rights-of-way of the local
municipal governments will be done in compliance with requirements issued by those agencies.

Necessary measures will be taken for the safety of the equipment and any other works affected by the works subject of
this document. Relevant entities which might require protection include any such works in the vicinity of the area of
work or on the service access or discharge path.
The construction team will ensure that any such requirements are documented.

Before commencing any works, all employees will attend a site safety induction training to ensure all safety measures
are understood and implemented and to cover specific procedures in case of emergency. If necessary, practical training
exercises will be conducted on escape routes, signage, evacuation and rescue.
Prior to the commencement of work, arrangements will be made for medical facilities and medical personnel to be
available from prompt attention to the injured person. The contractor’s vehicle assigned to the job site will be used for
transporting the injured person to the first aid station and to the nearest hospital when required.

Pre Installation
1.0 Ensure that approved materials required to carry out the work are available at site. PE/SE/Applicator

Installation
Prior to proceeding with the installation of Public Address and Mass notification system it
1.0 shall be ensured that the surface for installation has been released by Main contractor to PE/SE/Applicator
proceed with the installation work.
Equipment installation will be carried out as described in the specification and as indicated SE/Applicator
2.0 on the approved Shop drawings.
Locate the Public Address and Mass Notification System rack as per the approved MEP SE/Applicator
3.0 services coordination Drawings.
Install the Panel and assemble all the Voice alarm module, Amplifiers, CD player in the rack SE/Applicator
4.0 as per the manufacturer instruction/ manuals. Keep extra lengths of cables so that the rack
can be moved forward for accessing during maintenance.
Assemble all the control equipments and amplifiers in PAVA Rack. SE/Applicator
5.0 Provide Power to the Voice Alarm modules as well as the Power amplifiers.
Install and terminate the paging microphone.
6.0 Installation of Program Timer panel as per approved locations of shop drawings. SE/Applicator
Power supply for the PAVA Rack shall be through a switched socket outlet located behind

8.0 Install the speakers at the specified height as per the approved Shop drawings. SE/Applicator
Mark and make the cut outs on the false ceiling as per approved shop drawings for

Wall mounted speakers to be installed at proper location as per approved shop drawings

Program Timer Panel: The panel can be installed Semi-recessed or surface mount with top

Ensure all the cable trays, trunking and other containments works are finished and CM/SE/Applicator

Testing and Commissioning

levels, impedances, balanced, unbalanced).
Set up inputs level controls in order to get the appropriate sound level, while avoiding any SE/Applicator

Check for the performance of speakers by testing the Sound level of the speakers and check SE/Applicator

the functionality of microphones.
8.0 Check the audibility by paging the zones through the paging microphone. SE/Applicator

Check the interface between fire alarm and PAVA system to mute the music and play

Labels and Markers

9.1 Housekeeping
The work area shall be maintained neat and tidy as reasonable practical at all times.
Executed works in areas were other works are still being carried out shall be protected as per the contract
requirements.
