General
To carry out service and maintenance work on the ProAir you need the installed product-
specific software.
Without the product-specific software you cannot carry out any service and
maintenance tasks on your ProAir.
The product-specific software supports activities such as changing the ribbon cartridge in
the ticket printer or changing the receipt roll in the receipt printer.
The dialog with the software on this device is implemented via the LCD monitor and the
EPP keypad or, with a corresponding configuration, via the operator keyboard.
The menu function trees are clearly arranged and adjustable to the customer's request
enabling even less experienced users to choose the desired function easily and
comfortably. Security mechanisms allow functions to be deactivated for different users.
Detailed help texts and system messages support the user. These texts are available in
German and English. The language can be selected.
To be able to do service and maintenance work on the ProAir you have to open the
customer panel and pull out the equipment carriage.
Turn the key to the right until the hole for the
main key (2) is uncovered.
To close it:
Close the customer panel by following the same
steps in reverse order.
• Open the customer panel (see section "Opening / closing the customer panel").
To pull it out:
Push the lever (1) down towards you.
To push it in:
Close it by following the same steps in reverse
order.
• Open the customer panel (see section "Opening / closing the customer panel").
• Pull out the equipment carriage (see section "Pulling out / pushing in the equipment
carriage").
Pushing it back:
Pull the release lever (1) out, take hold of the
bag-tag printer at the top and push it in the
direction shown by the arrow.
The special electronics module has the following functions in the ProAir:
By pressing the main switch the ProAir is supplied with voltage. The special electronics
module is then in standby mode.
When you switch off the ProAir, you must wait at least 5 seconds before switching
it on again.
• Open the customer panel (see section "Opening / closing the device").
If the green LED at the special electronics module lights up, the ProAir is switched on.
In normal operation the device may only be switched off by pushing the ON/OFF
button of the special electronics module. Only switch the device off via the main
switch in emergencies (see chapter "Introduction", section "General power
interrupt"), since this could corrupt the software.
• Open the customer panel (see section "Opening / closing the device").
The procedure for switching off the ProAir depends on a parameter setting in the
configuration file of the operating system software.
The parameter setting defines whether the ProAir shuts down directly after the
ON/OFF button has been pressed or after a defined period (after a few seconds).
Defined switch-off
In this case, pressing the ON/OFF button simply lets the ProAir know that you want to
switch it off.
After the ON/OFF button has been pressed, the red and green LEDs light up together.
After several seconds the device switches off.
If the ProAir does not switch off once the transaction is completed, you should
check the setting in the configuration file.
If you have the standard system audio kit, the volume is adjusted on the PC.
If you have the sound system audio kit, adjust the volume as follows:
• Open the customer panel and pull out the equipment carriage (see section "Opening /
closing the device").
Connectors A, B, C, D
Each of these 3-pin connectors is fitted with a relay switch-over contact. The relays can be
switched through the application. The maximum load of a switch-over contact is
24 V / 1 A.
Connector E
This 4-pin connector is reserved for monitoring an optional UPS by the user software.
This connector is used to route messages from a UPS to the special electronics module.
Connector F
Not assigned.
Connectors G, H
Jumpering via the switching contacts on customer features, e.g. photosensors, proximity
sensors, etc., generates a signal in the customer connector panel and forwards it to the
special electronics (customer feedbacks 1 - 4).
Connector I
Connector for the connecting cable to the special electronics module.
You will find the pin assignment of plugs A to H in the following wiring diagram.

ID card insertion
When you insert an ID card, you should make sure that the magnetic stripe is in the
correct position.
The ID card unit cannot read the ID card information correctly unless you insert the ID
card into the ID card unit as described below.
The insertion of the ID card depends on the installation position of the card reader. The ID
card be inserted in the following ways:
Cleaning
A cleaning card is used to clean card reader ID18.
Check that no dirt remains in the card insertion slot. (If necessary, clean the card insertion
slot with a brush.)
You cannot clean the write / read head unless the device is switched on.
Cleaning process
The cleaning card can only be used for a brief period as it is a pre-saturated
cleaning card which dries out after removal from its packaging.
• Insert the cleaning card into the card insertion slot like a regular ID card.
The cleaning card is drawn in and the reader tries to read the cleaning card.
This cleans the read / write head.
Since no information is stored on the cleaning card, the cleaning card is output
again.

for a short time (the battery LED shines).
If the UPS passes the self-test, it switches back to line power. The battery LED
goes off, and the online LED shines constantly.
If the UPS does not pass the self-test, it switches to line power immediately, and
the LED indicating that the battery needs replacing, lights up (see section
"Malfunctions").
This does not affect the connected devices.
The status messages 'On-Battery' and 'Replace Battery' are displayed on the special
electronics with two yellow LEDs corresponding to the display on the UPS.
