Introduction
This Installation Guide provides all the information you need to install the Orbiter.
• Paragraphs following this symbol are actions to be performed in the specified order.
Text following this symbol should be given special attention in order to avoid
damage or injury.
This symbol identifies paragraphs which contain general notes to facilitate work
on the device and help avoid errors.
Please read the following notes carefully before doing any work on the device.
− When moving the device from a cold to a warm environment, do not operate it for at
least two hours to prevent possible damage caused by condensation.
− The device is equipped with a safety-tested power cable which must be connected only
to a grounded outlet.
− Always hold the plug when removing the power cable. Never pull the cable itself.
− Install cables in such a way that they will not be stepped on or tripped over or damaged
in any way.
− Make sure that there is always free access to the sockets used or to the electrical
circuit-breakers of the house installation.
− Connect any component later added to the device (e.g. a modem) to a grounded
socket with an approved power cable.
− Always keep the device’s vents free from obstruction to ensure proper air circulation
and to prevent malfunctions resulting from overheating.
− Only use accessories and extension components that have been approved by us.
Nonobservance can result in damage to the system or violations of regulations or
certifications concerning safety, radio interference and ergonomical requirements.
− Note that there are only Safety Extra-Low Voltage circuits (SELV circuits) if you want to
feed voltage from an external source into prepared cables to install additional
electronics (e.g. connection for an intruder alarm system).
(SELV = Safety Extra Low Voltage)
− To clean the device only use cleaning agents that have been approved by us.
Repairs
Unauthorised opening of the device or repair work carried out improperly could
result in considerable danger to the user.
• Push the power switch (1) on the power distributor in the position ’0’.
• Disconnect the power cable / power plug from the power distributor (3).
• Push the power switch (1) on the power distributor in the position ’0’.
• Disconnect the power cable / plug from the connecting cable (3).

Environmental protection
This product has been designed according to our corporate standard ’Environmentally
friendly product design and development’.
This means that crucial criteria such as long life, choice of material and its labeling,
emissions, packaging, ease of disassembly and recyclability have been taken into
account. This saves resources and relieves the strain on the environment.
Saving energy
Please switch on devices that need not be constantly running only when they are actually
needed. They should also be turned off when they are not need for longer periods of time.
Please do not stick any labels on plastic case parts since that would make recycling more
difficult.
Details regarding the return and recycling of used units and consumables can be obtained
from your local branch office or from our Recycling Centre in Paderborn:

Mounting guidelines
The Orbiter can be deployed indoors as well as outdoors in a sheltered area. It can be
bolted to the ground or mounted flexibly on a floor plate.
Floor area
The installation area must be flat and on one level with the surrounding floor. Unevenness
in the floor are to be leveled out by adjusting the height of the tie bars that have to be
ordered. This is not part of the installation procedure, but must be done by a contractor.
Ventilation
The device has a vent on each side. In general make sure that the vents are kept clear.
Installation types
The Orbiter can be installed as follows:
− without floor anchors with a floor plate with either a low or a high base
− with floor anchors without a floor plate with either a low or a high base
The flat base is used for the wheelchair model, the high one for the standard model.

Installation
The system must be screwed to the floor plate or bolted to the finished floor. Depending
on how it is used, two different base heights are possible (see chapter "Installation types").
To achieve the security level stipulated by country-specific regulations and meet the
requirements of commercial insurance companies, the device must be bolted to the load-
bearing substructure of the floor.
To prevent the device from being damaged by vandalism or stolen, we recommend to
anchor the Orbiter on the ground.
The Orbiter is delivered screwed to a shipping pallet without the base.
Before it is installed, the Orbiter needs to be taken off the pallet.
General information:
− Always check the permissible load carrying capacity of the floor before installing the
device.
− The device must not be mounted directly to floating screed.
− The installation area must be flat and on one level with the surrounding floor. Any
unevenness in the floor area must be leveled out by adjusting the legs or using
shims. This is not part of the installation procedure, but must be done by a contractor.
− Structural conditions (floor heating, power cables, data lines, etc.) need to be taken
into account when drilling the mounting holes.

If you want to install the Orbiter flexibly on the floor plate, use the supplied screws.
If you want to install it without a floor plate on the finished floor, you will need four anchor
bolts Upat UKA3 ASTA M16x190. These four anchor bolts are not contained in the
shipment (see "Orbiter mounting set") and must be purchased from a specialized dealer.
20
At the installation site drill four holes as shown above for fastening the base to the finished
floor.
When choosing the installation site, keep the positioning of the cables in mind (see section
"Area for positioning the cables and the cable exit").

Height adjustment
The schematic illustration above shows how the Orbiter is mounted on the finished floor
(here with the low base of the wheelchair model).
The schematic illustration above shows how the Orbiter is mounted on the finished floor
(here with the high base of the standard model).
When you have adjusted the height, place the base on the discs of the anchor bolts and
fastened it as shown above.
Set the Orbiter down on the mounted base. Screw the Orbiter into the four welded nuts of
the base using the four screws left over when you removed the shipping pallet.
Take note of the positioning of the cables (see section "Area for positioning the cables and
the cable exit").
Mount the support for the paper tray. The support has two guiding slots which are pushed
against the knurled nuts as far as possible (see illustration).
Move the base with the floor plate to the installation site.
Take note of the positioning of the cables (see section "Area for positioning the cables and
the cable exit").
Set the Orbiter down on the base. Screw it into the four welded nuts of the base using the
four screws left over when you removed the shipping pallet.
Close the front door and the side panel of the Orbiter.
General information
To connect the Orbiter, power cable and data line connections are required. The unit is
shipped with a power cable. Starting from the cable exit points in the floor plate, the cables
have an available length of 1 m. Please refer to the corresponding illustrations in this
guide for the position of the cable feed opening. The cable exit points in the floor must be
kept clear to ensure that the cables are not bent or damaged.
Free-standing devices are best connected to a floor connection unit of sufficient size which
has to be provided by the customer. The connection unit must have a screwable top and
has to be built into the floor flush with the screed (safety and prevention of accidents).
Make sure it is built in outside the device’s footprint.
Plan a big enough cable conduit from the cable feed opening to the floor connection unit,
so that ready-made cables can be laid. The exit point of the cable conduit should be right
under the cable feed opening of the device.
Power supply
The device may only be connected to a TN system. In addition to the power supply for the
device, grounding outlets must be provided by the customer for supplementary equipment
such as a modem.
