Conditional Formating
NOTES
1) Only highlight the data you want to analyze
(Ex: Highlight only the months/numbers, not the salesperson)
2) In the Home Tab, go to "Conditional Formatting" in Styles
section. You can choose what you want to do. For this ex,
lets analyze the which one is greater than 5000, less than
1000 and equal to 2014:
Under Conditional Formatting, click on highlight cell rules
Click "Greater than" & write the 5000 & choose color option
Click "less than" & write 1000 & choose color option
Click "equal to" & write 2014 & choose color option
3) Under Conditional Formatting, click "Clear Rules" &
select "Clear Rules from entire sheet" to erase all the colors
4) For this ex, lets analyze the top 15 items & top 5%
Under Conditional Formatting, click on the Top/Bottom Rules
Click "Top 10 items" and write 15 & choose color option
Click "Top 10%" & write 5 and choose color option
5) Under Conditional Formatting, you can use Data Bars to
know which one has higher/lower values
6) Under Conditional Formatting, you can use Color Scales to
compare which one has higher/longer values
Ex: Green-Yellow-Red Color Scale means Green is the highest
Red is the lowest. Darker colors means higher value
7) Under Conditional Formatting, you can use Icon Sets -
how you would like to show your data?
8) Under Conditional Formatting, you can style it on your own
Click "Manage Rules" (pop up will show up)
Click New Rules and you can:
Choose Format Style
Choose Rule Type. Ex, choose "Format only cells that contain"
& greater than 8000
(you can add another "new rule after" as much as you want)
