1. Provide as many gender stereotype roles for men and women does the society have
A stereotype is a widely accepted judgment or bias about a person or group even
though it’s overly simplified and not always accurate. Stereotypes about gender can
cause unequal and unfair treatment because of a person’s gender. This is called
sexism.
There are four basic kinds of gender stereotypes:
1. Personality traits - For example, women are often expected to be
accommodating and emotional, while men are usually expected to be self-
confident and aggressive.
2. Domestic behaviors -For example, some people expect that women will take care
of the children, cook, and clean the home, while men take care of finances, work
on the car, and do the home repairs.
3. Occupations - Some people are quick to assume that teachers and nurses are
women, and that pilots, doctors, and engineers are men.
4. Physical appearance -For example, women are expected to be thin and graceful,
while men are expected to be tall and muscular. Men and women are also
expected to dress and groom in ways that are stereotypical to their gender (men
wearing pants and short hairstyles, women wearing dresses and make-up.
2. List down characteristics that you have experienced and noticed as you enter
adolescent hood such as body hairs for both men and women; menstruation for
women. How do these changes affect you as a person?
Rapid growth and biological changes, self-consciousness about one's looks,
sexual attraction, cognitive development, career consciousness, and other novel and
exciting developments in various areas are some of the aspects of adolescence that I
have observed. It has an impact on me personally since I consider a lot of things,
such as politics, school, social interactions, my family, and other topics that are
common to people's thoughts. Teenagers, in my opinion, think differently than adults
because we question our ideas more, our minds wander, we are never satisfied with
a poor response, and we are curious about what we discover to be true for
ourselves. For instance, many teenagers today are quite active in politics. We're all
attempting to determine what, in our opinion, is best for the world right now and
how to convince others of that. In essence, our thinking is rather typical, just
somewhat more disorganized.
3. Research on any article on the internet that talks about gender inequality in the
Philippines. What is your stand with regards to the researched article.
As what i’ve researched there is this article that talks about inequality about
women. Mendoza, a 27-year-old business development officer, said she had
experienced discrimination from her past employer who prefers men over women to
look after the company’s projects. When the door opened for her to lead one of the
projects in her previous workplace, Mendoza said she had given all her best not just
to meet but to exceed the expectations of her former employer. My stand here is
that what men can do is what also women do. There is no limit to what people can
do, may it be in a field of law enforcement, business, company’s project etc. Yes, they
are women, but we must not limit people by there gender, maybe we always see a
company work being dominated by men but that doesn’t mean women can’t
succeed in that field. We must treat everyone fairly and not based solely on one’s
gender.
4. For you, how important is Gender and Society class in widening and sharpening your
knowledge in terms of gender differences and promoting gender equality.
It is crucial to take Gender and Society since gender studies is a discipline that
fights prejudice against women and other marginalized groups and supports gender
equality. It is possible to comprehend how gender norms contribute to the ongoing
oppression of women in contemporary society by looking at the history of gender
norms over time. The best way to achieve gender equality is to begin educating the
next generation about it by not putting any sort of preconceptions on them. Gender
equality is a difficult concept to comprehend. More authority is being balanced and
equalized between the sexes. We will be able to reduce a number of crimes involving
violence against both men and women once we fully comprehend this.

1. Provide as many gender stereotype roles for men and women does the society have. (for
example: women are the only ones responsible for household chores)
Men: Self Sufficiency: Men should figure things out on their own without the
help of others. - Acting Tough: "A man should always defend his reputation and be
willing to use physical aggression to do so.
"Men should avoid being gay or perceived as being gay." Women: -Personality traits:
Women are often expected to be accommodating and emotional. Domestic behaviors:
Some people expect that women will take care of the children, cook, and clean the home.
Occupation: Some occupations suit women like teacher, babysitter, home health aide,
receptionist, hairdresser, and nurse/medical assistant.
Physical appearance: Women are expected to be thin and graceful. Women are also
expected to dress in ways that are stereotypical to their gender (women wearing dresses
and make-up).
2. List down characteristics that you have experienced and noticed as you enter adolescent
hood such as body hairs for both men and women; menstruation for women. How do
these changes affect you as a person?
The characteristics of adolescence that I noticed include rapid growth and
biological changes, the consciousness of one's appearance, sexual attraction, cognitive
development, career consciousness, and other new and exciting changes in other areas. It
affects me as a person because I think a lot about a lot of things like politics, school,
social interactions, my family, normal things most people think about. I think the
difference about the way that adolescents think is that we question our thoughts more, our
minds race, are never satisfied if we don't have a good answer, and are curious about
what we find to be true for ourselves. For example, many teenagers now are very
politically involved. We are all trying to figure out what we think is best for the world
today and how we can prove that to others. Basically, our thinking is pretty normal except
a lot more scattered.
3. Research on any article on the internet that talks about gender inequality in the
Philippines. What is your stand with regards to the researched article
According to my study, there is an article that discusses gender inequality. Business
development officer Mendoza, 27, said that she had encountered discrimination from her
previous workplace, who favors men over women to manage the company's initiatives.
Mendoza claimed that when the opportunity arose for her to take the reins of one of the
projects at her prior place of employment, she gave it her all to not just meet but surpass
her former employer's expectations. I believe that everything males can do, women can
do as well. There are no restrictions on what people can achieve, whether it be in the
realm of business, law enforcement, a company's initiative, etc. Yes, they are women, but
we shouldn't judge people based just on their gender. Even though we frequently observe
that men predominate in the workplace, that doesn't indicate that women can't be
successful in that industry. We need to treat everyone equally and not just on the basis of
their gender.
4. For you, how important is Gender and Society class in widening and sharpening your
knowledge in terms of gender differences and promoting gender equality.
It is important to take Gender and Society class because Gender studies is a field
that promotes gender equality and combats discrimination against women and other
marginalized groups. By examining the history of gender norms over time, it's possible to
understand how they contribute to the continued oppression of women in modern society.
Gender equality is a complex term to understand and the only way to achieve it is to start
educating our new generation about it by not imposing any sort of stereotypes on them. It
is more of balancing and equating power between the two sexes. Once we properly
understand this thing, we will be able to decrease a number of crimes relating to violence
against both men and women.
