LESSON PLAN
Method: Direct Method
1. Goal:
Students will increase their familiarity with some English words used in simple
conversations.
2. Objectives
Terminal Lesson Objective:
● Students will successfully use the English language in an intermediate
conversation.
Enabling Objectives
● Students will make a section's meaning clear.
● Students will have an opportunity to ask questions as well as answer them.
● Students will be able to self-correct by making a choice.
● Students will use the English language in a real context.
3. Materials and Equipment
Teaching Material:
● English For Today Book and general classroom materials.
● Photos
● Video clips
Equipment:
● Projector
4. Procedures
Duration: 45 mins.
Stage 1:
Warm-up (3 mins)
Aim: To make Ss more comfortable.
Procedure:
● Greetings and welcome.
● Telling a relevant story/summarizing the last class.
● The lesson's opening assertion.
Stage 2:
Activity 1: Read aloud (15 mins)
Aim:
● To develop reading skills through practice with speaking.
● To help Ss understand the meaning.
● To learn how to ask questions as well as answer them
Mode: Presentation
Procedure:
● T will present a picture in front of the class and instruct Ss to open their
books to a certain page number.
● T will raise questions and Ss will respond.
● T will call out Ss one by one to read the text aloud, and the others will
follow.
● Meanwhile, T will point to a different section of the picture as each line is
read.
● T will utilize gestures, images, illustrations, or other techniques to clarify
the section's content.
● T will ask Ss if they have any questions in the target language.
● Ss will ask their questions in the target language.
● T will respond to Ss's inquiries by sketching or offering examples on the
board.
● T will utilize the target language to explain the meaning of any words that
Ss do not understand.
Stage 3:
Activity 2: (15 mins)
● Q/A
● Self-correction
● Conversation practice
Aim:
● To make a direct association between the TL and meaning.
● To make Ss self-corrected.
Mode: Production
Procedure:
● T is going to ask Q/A about the picture in the target language, and Ss will
respond with a whole phrase in the target language.
● Students will raise questions, and the class will respond.
● T will focus on pronunciation with Ss.
● T will repair a grammatical mistake by giving Ss a choice.
Stage 4:
Activity 3: (10 mins)
● Fill in the blanks
● Dictation
Aim:
● To teach grammar inductively.
● To develop from the beginning of language instruction.
Mode: Production
Procedure:
● T will direct Ss to fill in the blanks.
● Students read a phrase aloud and provide responses as they go.
5. Evaluation
Warp-up (2 mins)
Aim:
● To engage Ss at home
Procedure:
● T will instruct Ss to write a paragraph in the target language as homework.
