ABOUT UI INNOVATION WAR

DESCRIPTION
UI Innovation War is a national-scale business competition series consisting of two competition categories,
namely the business plan competition targeting high school students and the business case competition
targeting university students.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of UI Innovation War is to serve as a platform for students to collaborate in enhancing their
creativity in business ideas and to provide a means for university students to contribute innovation and
strategies in solving real business cases.

GRAND THEME
“Igniting Innovation: Advancing Business Ideas through Collaborative and Visionary Strategies”

This theme aims to stimulate innovation and advance business ideas through collaborative and visionary
strategies. In the context of this competition, participants are expected to present these ideas through
effective collaborative and visionary strategies. Participants are also expected to identify relevant business
problems and present creative and innovative business solutions to address them.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS CASE COMPETITION

Business case competition is held to enable undergraduate students to learn, share

insights, enhance their critical thinking abilities, and competence to work in teams in
order to solve the case. Participating teams will be challenged with a case problem
statement given by our case collaborator and must be able to examine case
resolution using an appropriate problem approach in a solution report and
presentation in front of honorable judges. There are 3 stages in the competition which
consist of essay submission, paper submission, and pitch deck.

REQUIREMENT BCC

Participants of the UI Innovation War Business Case Competition are active students, which can
be proven with a student identification card. Each participant must not be older than 25 years old
(D3/D4/Undergraduate).
Each participant is required to participate in the Business Case Competition as part of a team with
their teammates.
Each team consists of a minimum of 2 students and a maximum of 3 students from the same or
different universities. Each team must have 1 team leader.
Each participant can only be a member of one team.
Each team leader must fill out the registration form according to the procedures in the guidebook
through the provided link. Each participant must attach supporting documents in PDF format,
such as a student identification card.
Each participant must attach the required documents, including proof of following
@ui.innovationwar on Instagram, as well as proof of uploading the twibbon in png/jpg format,
with the file name format: Member's Name_Team Name (Example: Widhya Putri_Success).
Participants who have completed the registration process must join the WhatsApp group and
Google Classroom using the links provided at the end of the registration form.
REGISTRATION FLOW

1 Each participant must follow @ui.innovationwar on Instagram.

2 The team leader register via bemui.link/RegistBCCUIIW23 that will later be connected to
the Google Form page to complete participant data. Please note that the email used will
be linked to Google Classroom.

3 Each team leader will receive an email stating that the registration has been completed,
and the team has been officially registered as a participant in the UI Innovation War 2023

4 Participants are required to join the WhatsApp group and Google Classroom which will be
emailed to the team leader and attached on form.

5 Team leaders who do not receive a registration confirmation email within 24 hours, please
confirm with the contact person Bagas (085156894940/Line: bgssadyntr) or Amel
(081282188058/Line: cutamell)
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

The registration phase takes place from 21 July to 18 August 2023

All teams are required to enroll in the UI Innovation War 2023 Business Case Competition by filling
out the bemui.link/RegistBCCUIIW23 Each team should use a single account, preferably the team
leader's, to register and fulfill the necessary registration criteria.
Every participant must carefully adhere to the guidelines provided in the competition's guidebook.
Make sure to complete the registration phase by uploading the following documents :
Scanned photo/document of student identification card.
Twibbon post proof of every member of the team. Twibbon and caption can be accessed at

After completing the registration form, participants will receive registration confirmation in the
form of a Google Classroom code and a WhatsApp group link which will be attached on forms and
sent via email to the team leader within 1 x 24 hours. All participants in the team must join the
Google Classroom and WhatsApp group provided by the committee.
The team leader who does not receive the email registration confirmation within 1x24 hours,

All further information regarding the preliminary round will be further notified via the WhatsApp
group.
COMPETITION FLOW

WORKSHOP AND MINI CASE COMPETITION

This workshop is open to the public and aims to provide participants with an understanding of effective
ways to solve business cases. In this workshop, a Mini Case Competition will be held as an opportunity for
participants to apply all the insights provided by the speakers in solving business cases in a competitive
format. Date: August 5, 2023.

BABAK 1: ESSAY
All participants who have successfully completed the registration process will be included in the WhatsApp
and Google Classroom groups. In Round 1, all teams will prepare an essay solving a given case, which will be
provided by the committee. Only teams that pass to the next round will be invited to participate in Round 2.
Date : August 1 - August 18, 2023

BABAK 2: PROPOSAL
All teams that successfully pass Stage 1 will receive notifications via email to the team captain and will be
eligible to proceed to the semifinal round. Every qualifying team that wishes to continue to the semifinal
round is required to pay the registration fee of Rp200.000. In Stage 2, each team will be asked to prepare a
proposal that provides a more detailed explanation of the previously written essay. Only teams that pass to
the next round will be invited to participate in Round 3.

COMPETITION FLOW

TECHNICAL MEETING DAN MENTORING

After completing Round 2, there will be 6 teams that qualify and meet the requirements to advance to the
final round. Before proceeding to the pitch deck stage, each team will participate in exclusive mentoring
sessions and a technical meeting. These mentoring sessions and technical meetings are mandatory for all
finalists to attend.

BABAK 3: PITCH DECK

The six teams that have reached the final stage are required to create a slide presentation of their business
ideas and deliver a live presentation in front of the jury panel.

A The executive summary should not exceed 3 pages. These pages exclude:

Cover (this section should include team identity such as name of the team, name, and email
of each member).
Outline of the content.
Appendix (references, additional findings, statistics, etc.).

The Solution originality is a must and there is no part of this case, which

forwarded without permission with any format in any way.

We will send you a confirmation email the next day after your submission. For this round,
the submission can be done through google classroom with subject “TEAM
NAME_EXECUTIVE SUMMARY”.

Every team member is required to attend the Talk Show and UI Innovation War
Workshop, which will be held in August.
This guidebook may be revised at some point in the future. Any changes will be
communicated to the participants through the UIIW Competition WhatsApp
Group.
