Wireframing Assignment

This document provides instructions for an individual wireframing assignment for a telemedicine app. Students are asked to create 10 individual wireframes depicting the app's workflow and include a 3-4 sentence description for each. The wireframes will serve as an initial draft for feedback and should include clear navigation, visual hierarchy, and evidence of all user actions without images, color, or logos. Students can use tools like Figma, Balsamiq, Miro, PowerPoint, or Adobe XD to complete the wireframes. The submission will be evaluated based on a provided rubric.

Wireframing Assignment #5

PLEASE NOTE: this is an individual assignment. Each group member should complete 10
wireframes.

Description
A complete set of wireframes that show the specific workflow steps of your application are
necessary before you begin development on any software project. Wireframes create a map for
your project stakeholders so that they can better understand your application. They also can
allow for necessary feedback and iteration with stakeholders so you don’t have to
spend additional time on development when a concept you have applied doesn’t work later.
For this submission, you will individually create 10 wireframes as an initial ‘draft’ for us and
some of your users to review during the prototyping/feedback week.
In the future, for your group project, you will eventually create 20 wireframes (submitted as a
group) in the Final Project submission.
Apply the knowledge you’ve gained through design activities (interviewing, synthesis,
ideation...) up until this point to create a series of wireframes for review. You are individually
responsible for completing 10 or more wireframes that visually explain how your telemedicine
app works (please submit no more than 20 in your initial draft).
Try to do this without consulting with other team members. The point of this exercise is to see
the differences in solutions and to come up with a shared set you’d like to proceed with. The
wireframes should include visual workflow features from your design research up until this
point and a 3-4 sentence description of how each wireframe works. Refer to Lecture 7 for tips
on Wireframing. Note: you will not be graded on artistic ability, but please make an effort to
apply common patterns from the lecture and present clean and complete submissions.

Instructions/Requirements

• Complete at least 10 individual wireframes (individual views) depicting an app with the
primary focus of telemedicine
• Wireframes must be clearly separated and numbered
• Each wireframe should include a 3-4 sentence description of how an individual might
interact with that view
• Wireframes should match final storyboard that is turned in as a group assignment
(Week 3)
• Wireframes should be submitted in black and white or gray scale

Wireframes should not include:

• Images
• Color
• Logos

Wireframes should include:

• Clear navigation for the user including ‘escape hatches’ if the user needs to go back
• Some visual hierarchy concepts on every screen
• Evidence of all actions the user must complete as showcased in the storyboard
• Complete text that would be presented to the user

Options for Wireframing

1. Figma is a more advanced wireframing application that allows you to use libraries and
some existing features to create complex wireframes. Only try this solution if you feel
comfortable with other Adobe programs and are more competent technically.
To use Figma: https://www.figma.com/ (There is a started pack you can use for free)
2. Balsamiq is a simple wireframing tool that allows you to drag and drop pre-set menus,
buttons, and other items into an app template. To use Balsamiq, start a free trial:
https://balsamiq.com/ (Be mindful of the free trial length – 30 days)
3. You may choose to build your wireframes on an alternative platform if you are not
comfortable with Figma or Balsamiq. Please use a platform that allows you flexibility in
what you include. You can use your Miro Board, a PPT, Adobe XD, or reach out to us if
you have another technology you’d like to try using.
