Using CCS Software ( CST )

The purpose of this information is to show the proper

installation of the software that must be installed and how
to use the program as a tool on CCS based machines .

Software to load & Components needed to connect .

1. Peak Can Driver version 1 & 2 ( LOAD FIRST ) !!!!
2. Crane Service Tool ( CST Installer )
3. Peak Can Dongle and a RS-232 cable
4. Grove Can Channel Switchbox
5. A laptop with at least one useable USB port
Using CCS Software
Loading the CCS Software

Double right click

1. the installer file. 2. Check All Desired Boxes & Click Next

3.
It Will then show the path on your laptop in
which it is going to install ./ CLICK INSTALL
Loading Software

4.
The Status bar will show the program being loaded.

5.

Bar will say completed when finished./

Click Close

6.
On your desk top there should now be a
shortcut looking like this one .
Generating A Footprint

1.
Double click on the CST short cut and it
should open as shown .

2.
Now go to Settings & key
management and select it .

Optional Text
Generating A Footprint

3. A Screen as shown above will appear you want to click on GENERATE FOOTPRINT.

After doing so a footprint will appear in the box HIGHLIGHT ONLY THE FOOTPRINT
NO EXTRA SPACES AND COPY TO THE CLIPBOARD .
Generating A Footprint

Now open your email account and paste the footprint Sending it to authorized Crane
4. Care or Engineering personnel who will generate your access .

This process will ID the software to a specific person and

laptop . Giving different personnel different levels of access
of calibration / flashing / eeprom / Imin & Imax adjustments.

Optional Text
Generating A Footprint

5. The Manitowoc personnel will then send you a created footprint back via. Email .

COPY ONLY THE FOOTPRINT NO EXTRA SPACES AND

PASTE IT INTO THE SOFTWARE WINDOW OF CST.

Connecting To The Crane

Being the CST software will be used across different machines you must select what
machine you want to connect to and what Data Can Bus you would like to view.

To determine what can bus you want to view you must reference the schematic and the
can diagram located on your material . You then must rotate the can dial of the can bus
switchbox to the desired can for communication.
Connecting To The Crane
Across the top of the CST it will always tell you what bus you are connected to.

From the prior slide we se we have selected can A.

We will now select View and Nodes .

Every major electrical component attached to this bus will

now appear in this window ( SYSTEM NODES ) if it is
GREEN it is alive and able to be viewed on the bus . If it is
RED it means for what ever the reason may be it is
unavailable to the bus at this time . ( MISSSING )

Let’s take a look at the swing circuit ( THE SCHEMATIC )

S 2304 Swing Enable Switch
Here is our starting point ( The Digital Input )

We see the DI is reporting to the left side joystick now

reference the can map and see what bus we should be
on to view this component.

CAN BUS A
Connecting To The Crane

So from looking at the map we see we need to be connected to

can A .Select Can 1= A on switchbox and select A as shown
below on the software.
Connecting To The Crane

We can see now we are talking on can A at the top of our

software display.

We wanted to view the left side joystick for our Digital Input .
Connecting to the Crane

This is the service screen for the left side joystick .

You can view the X & Y

axis's of the can
joystick

Here is our Digital Input for the Swing Enable Switch when active it will
change colors to green and the outrigger looking icon will flip upside down
Connecting to the Crane

If you right click on the switch the

software will show you the specific
information on this function .

Now that we have seen our input

lets go back to the schematic
Connecting to the Crane

Here we can see that all swing related outputs are attached to CCM 10 . ( LOOK AT THE MAP )

Here underlined in RED are swing related outputs not some are straight DO’S and some are
PWM illustrated by the proportional arrows drawn through the coils .

CAN BUS C
Connecting to the Crane
Now that we are already connected to the machine and we seen from looking at the can map
we want can bus C turn the can dial on the switchbox to can 3 = can C.

At this time just click on the GREEN PLAY This screen will appear detecting the bus
ARROW the tool will auto detect the can channel
you are looking for and you can verify by looking
at the top of the tool to see you are connected to
Can C
Connecting to the Crane

Now that we are connected to Can C go to view and Swing Data .

Connecting to the Crane

In this window we can now see all information pertaining to the output side of the
swing circuit of the machine . All outputs within the software are illustrated as coils like
shown above ( Speed control/ right /left /brake release/brake command.

OUTPUTS COILS OF THE SWING CIRCUIT

When the coils are not active they will appear black as
shown above when Active they are GREEN when
shorted they are RED . Also as in the input side of the
circuit you can click on the coils if they are a standard
Digital output signal right clicking them will show you all
info pertaining to the coil. If it is adjustable left clicking it
will bring up the IMIN & IMAX adjustment screen .
