include Symmetrix® /Enginuity™ and CLARiiON® for the Windows
version, and Centera™ for the Linux version.

Known Problems and Limitations

Known Problems and Limitations

Issues
Dial-up on Windows Issue
XP ConnectEMC may not dial-up successfully after installation on
Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003.

Remedy
A correction will be provided in the next release.

Connect Home Issue

Suspend Freezes GUI If a connect home is suspended, the GUI will temporarily freeze.

Avoidance
Wait for about 2 to 3 minutes and the GUI should function properly
again.

Modem Debug Log Issue

The modem debug log does not archive properly. The only user-
facing issue is that it may take time to review the log file through the
GUI. However, this should not slow down the performance of
ConnectEMC.

EMCRemote or Issue
SymmIP Disconnect Immediately after disconnecting from EMCRemote or SymmIP,
with Connect Home ConnectEMC tries to connect home. Since the resource is still in use,
this action causes a TAPI line problem, and the connect home aborts.

Avoidance
A connect home made after to this attempt should be successful.

Connect Home Error Issue

Indication in Log Files ConnectEMC_SymmWin.log may not report correctly if SymmWin
terminates unexpectedly.

Avoidance
Restart SymmWin. You should be able to verify that
ConnectEMC_SymmWin.log resumes logging successfully.

Known Problems and Limitations

Last Connection Log Issue

Indicator After a file has been queued to connect home by modem dial-up and
logging has started, the Last Connection Log pane is blank until the
call itself has begun.

Remedy
If this is a new installation and the first time you try to connect home
by dial-up, a Last Connection Log message dialog will appear with
the message “cannot file last connection log.”
There are two ways to fix this:
◆ With Last Connection Log selected, select View, Refresh from the
menu bar.
or
◆ Shut down and restart the GUI.
After taking either action, you should see under Last Connection
Log the command (target log file name) ConnectEMC_dial.log

Removing Connection Issue

Records After removing a Connection Record, you will find that the lower
right pane does not clear. If you do not refresh this pane before
attempting to restore the same Connection Record, you will see a
dialog box error message from the ConnectEMC GUI .

Remedy
Force a full refresh by closing (by double-clicking) and then
re-opening the Connection menu.

Known Problems and Limitations

2. When the log is displayed, click on the log so that the bottom
pane is in view.
3. From the menu bar, select View to verify that Auto Log Refresh is
checked.
4. Select Auto Log Refresh to uncheck the command.
You will now be able to scroll through the selected log file.

Restoring the GUI To restore the pane arrangement present at your original GUI startup:
Startup Window
1. Select Left Menu command Status.
2. Select blue toolbar button labeled INFO.
3. Select yellow square toolbar “Normal” button (third from right).

Left Menu Command For the Testing menu command in the Left Menu, only the GUI test
“Testing” shown is available.
