Course Outline  Warehouse Management in Microsoft Dynamics® AX 2009

Module 1: Introduction
This module explains the key concepts of Warehouse management using Microsoft
Dynamics AX 2009. In this chapter, the Warehouse management key terms are
defined. Also, the key benefits of the Microsoft Dynamics AX Warehouse management
system will be discussed as well as the structure and integration of Microsoft Dynamics
AX Warehouse management with other modules within Microsoft Dynamics AX. In this
chapter, the difference between advanced Warehouse management and standard
Warehouse management will be identified.

Module 2: Setting up Warehouse Management


In this module, the setup process of Microsoft Dynamics AX Warehouse Management
is presented. This lesson follows the setup flow. All steps of the basic setup are
covered in detailed description. Set up of inventory dimensions and inventory model
groups, set up of sites, warehouse, aisles, locations, warehouse items, store areas and
zones, and set up of pallets, pallet types and groups, and forklifts will be described.

Module 3: Item Arrival and Registration

This module discusses in detail the processes of items’ receipt, arrival, and
registration. This module covers the procedures for item receipt using the Arrival
overview form and arrival journal.

Module 4: Item picking and shipping


This module reviews the picking and shipping procedures in Microsoft Dynamics AX
2009. In this module, you will learn how to create picking list, output order, and
picking routes, how to set up consolidated picking, picking registration, shipment
reservations combination, sequences and template. Also, the procedures of picked
items delivery, transport refilling and shipment staging and loading setup will be
introduced.

Module 5: RFID in Warehouse Management


This module provides a high level overview of RFID functionality as it relates to the

goods using RFID technology. This module also describes the process for picking,
packing and shipping RFID tagged and non-tagged items.

Module 6: Quarantine management


This module explains how to use quarantine functionality in the context of warehouse
management processes. It shows how to set up an item using both quarantine
management and warehouse management. Also, it provides information about how to
handle quarantine items in Warehouse management. The module covers in detail how
to enter items into quarantine, both manually and automatically. The process for
quarantined item receipt is discussed and explained, as well as quarantine orders.

This module discusses the features regarding inquiring and reporting against the data
created through the previous chapters. How to view inquiries is explained along with
how to locate the specific inquiries required. Also it is explained how Warehouse
management reports allow you to have a hard copy of various aspects of Warehouse
management.
