Write names of all persons and why are you doing dissertation. Whats the aim? Read module specification for this.
Declaration
Declare that the project done is original. And dont forget to sign it.
Table of Contents
Do not forget to write page numbers. Use bullets like 1, 2, 1.1, 1.2, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 2.1, 2.2.3 etc, You have to write all that is written here + the following : List of Graphs List of Annexures List of Tables
Executive summary
This is a one page SUMMARY of your entire project. Not synopsis. Write what problem you tried to tacle. What methods you used to collect data. What data was collected. What are your findings . What is your solution to that problem.
Background Study (do not write Literature Review, Introduction, or any other name)
In text Citations are a MUST. That too is CORRECT format. Otherwise the reports WILL BE RETURNED. Also,
This chapter must be written with lot of coherence. Each para must be linked with each other. Use subheadings to make this chapter more readable. Make tables, diagrams, images, etc to make it interesting. This chapter ends with the subheading SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESEARCH . In this paragraph you have to elaborate the RESEACRH PROBLEM / OPPORTUNITY. Then write who will find the research /study useful.
Research Objectives
The objectives have to start with TO + verb.Also bullets must be there to put objectives right.
Research Methodology
The four components of research methodology must be there. Please do not define them copying matter from Research text books. Instead, elaborate how YOU adopted the chosen research design. Why did you choose descriptive/exploratory/both design? How did you adapt them? Which data collection methods did you choose? Why and how did you use them? Elaborate each component in your own words. Give support, if possible, from other research works done.
Recommendations (optional)
Make this chapter ONLY IF you have a concrete action plan for the research problem studied by you. It should be derived from your findings and
interpretations. It has to be related to your work. It should be original. Recommendations are open ended. A person can follow them or not. The choice is with the reader. This can be 5 to 10 page long.
Conclusion
Conclusions are close ended. You have to follow or take off from where the writer has ended it. Here you close your study. Please do not repeat executive summary here. In this chapter you need to suggest the reader what further studies can be done following your studies. You may suggest improvements that can be made in this study. This is one-two page long.
References
This is a must. At least 25 references are needed. References must have NO bullets / NO numbers. It must be written in alphabetic order. There must be visible SPACE between each reference. Strictly follow the Harvard Referencing System.
Bibliography (optional)
Bibliography is written just like references. This shows the list of materials which you had read for doing the research but not used directly in your report/study.
Annexures
A1 A2 A3 A4 Questionnaire / any other data collection tool (one sample) Code book Coding Sheet / any other data compilation tool Any calculations / tables/graphs etc
