1. (What?): What did you notice / what stood out?
The Waterfall Methodology - The waterfall approach is a classic, linear way of
managing the project. Typically, this includes phases, including requirements
gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Each stage
must be performed before moving on to the next, resulting in a structured and
tightly regulated process. Waterfall is known for its meticulous planning, detailed
documentation and well-defined project scope. Changes to the project requirements
after the first phase are prohibited as they may disrupt the stated project schedule
and timeline. Waterfalls are ideal for well-defined projects, consistent requirements
and where a clear project path can be established.
During the podcast, Josh Cronk said, “The first company I worked for out of school
was very waterfall, very hardware-focused. They ran a waterfall methodology.”
(Managing projects in a non-pm role, 2021, 23:40).

2. (Relates to what?): What course learning does this relate to?

It relates to the concepts of project life cycle . “ This form of project management is
often called waterfall project management. The waterfall terminology comes from
the idea that the works flows from one phase in the next, much like a waterfall flows
downward from one level; to the next”. (Barrett. 2021, p. 8).

3. (So what?): So what insights or conclusions can you draw?

The waterfall technique is a structured project management style in which activities

are completed linearly, with each phase relying on the preceding one's completion.
It provides clarity and documentation but needs more adaptability to meet changing
requirements. It is best suited for well-defined, less complicated projects and may
not be suitable for dynamic or inventive endeavour that require iterative
development and regular customer input.
The Waterfall method is more appropriate for tasks with solid and well-understood
necessities, wherein modifications are minimal and predictable. However, in lots of
cutting-edge industries, mainly in generation and software program development,
the dynamic nature of necessities and the want for faster reaction to marketplace
modifications frequently make Waterfall much less suitable.

This consciousness may also affect my decision for task management. I could be
more willing to keep in mind Agile methodologies, which embody alternate and
consumer feedback and offer more bendy and adaptive handling of tasks. Thus, I
could be more open to hybrid methods or agile practices to attain successful task
effects in a dynamic enterprise landscape.
