MPLS To SRv6 Migration-1

This document summarizes how to migrate from an MPLS network to an SRv6 network using Cisco IOS-XR routers. It demonstrates dual connection of provider edge (PE) routers and BGP routing to migrate Layer 3 VPNs. The same principles can be applied to migrate global routing tables and different flavors of Layer 2 VPNs. It provides details on the initial MPLS topology, equipment access methods, and getting started instructions.

Required: Laptop

Optional: Cisco AnyConnect

About this Solution

This lab demonstrates a full migration from a legacy MPLS network to an SRv6 network. It
uses the dual connected PE feature and simple BGP routing to migrate L3VPN. The same
principle can be applied to a global routing table and a very similar principle to all flavors of
L2VPNs.

The network demonstrates the main component of the MPLS network based on LDP, but
the same migration scenario applies to a migration from SR MPLS.

Topology
This content includes preconfigured users and components to illustrate the scripted
scenarios and features of the solution. All components are fully configurable with
predefined administrative user accounts. We created the logical topology on a single server
using XRd.

Getting Started
This procedure assumes that you have already logged into dCloud.

This procedure describes how to locate and launch instant or scheduled demos in dCloud.

1. In the dCloud home page, click the top-right corner, and select US-East (RTP) Data
center .

2. In the top menu, click Catalog .

3. In the Catalog display, in the Search Catalog field, enter the name of a demo or any
keywords in the demo title or description.

4. If you have not entered the entire demo title, scroll to the demo of interest.

5. Depending on the type of demo, click one of the following buttons.

View The demo starts and provides ways for you to open the
components that comprise the demo. The scenarios instruct you
when to open the components.

Schedule Opens the scheduling wizard so you can schedule the demo when
resources are available. You receive emails that:

Acknowledge the demo schedule.

Notify you when the demo is starting.

Each email contains a link to the demo.

Note: It can take up to 30 minutes, depending on the type of demo, for the
demo to initialize. Plan your demo time accordingly.

6. Follow the directions in the demo guide to start the demo.

Access Devices
This section describes how to access the demo and demo devices.

There are several other ways to connect to the routers. We recommend using Cisco
AnyConnect and then SSH directly to the server. This method is optimal for copying
commands from the guide and pasting them to the routers.
The remote workstation has an IP address of 198.18.134.28. Access credentials are
username cisco, password C1sco12345.
