A Glance Into the Activities Of June and July

International Yoga Day -


The theme of International Yoga Day in 2022 is ' Yoga for Humanity ', which aims to highlight the
physical, mental and emotional state of people. The theme has been chosen with the aim of motivating
the yoga community for global development.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day held on 21st June, 2022, our school organized special programs
to spread awareness among students and teachers and to involve more and more people in yoga and
meditation.
It was celebrated with active participation by students of different classes. The session started with Surya
Namaskar. Students performed various yoga postures and meditation techniques. The session ended with
Laughter therapy.

Orientation Sessions -
A virtual Orientation Session for teachers was organized on 27th June, 2022. Resource persons of this
"In Theory and Practice" session were Ms. Michelle D'Souza and Ms. Cressilda Monterio, from St.
Joseph, Mumbai.It was indeed an interactive and brain teasing workshop that soccured teachers to
amalgamate the practice of meditation in theory.

Workshop on Guidance and Counselling -


One more day of Orientation Programme for teaching staff was held in the school auditorium on 28th
June, 2022.The future Counsellors of the school guided teachers about the types, principles and resources
of Guidance and Counselling.Basically, its main aim was to promote guidance and various orientation skills
among teachers, for the benefit of students.
Welcome Back to School -
After the summer vacation, a special morning assembly was organized by the students of class IX C on the
day of re-opening i.e.1st July, 2022, for the enthusiastic welcome of the students. Basically, it was to boost
their confidence and sincerity towards their studies. Also to imbibe team spirit in their nascent mind.
A self-composed poem by Ms.Bhakti Sharma, was the highlight of the gathering. It was concluded with a
pledge to uphold the dignity of the school. Our honorable Principal Rev. Sr. Ramya provided her valuable
support by being a part of this wonderful assembly.

World Chocolate Day –

A special assembly on World Chocolate Day was


conducted on 7th July, 2022 by class II D. A poem was
enacted by the little ones. A speech was also delivered
on the topic - "Chocolate Day". Students also danced in
chocolate attires. In all, the tiny tots participated with
great excitement and interest.

World Population Day -


A special morning assembly was organized by the students of class X D on 11th July,2022, on the occasion
of World Population Day. It started with a special prayer as per the theme. The students presented a play,
wherein, the students enacting as a teacher and a doctor presented their ideas about the challenging problem
created because of the vast population.
In the end, the most important message given is to transform the people into a strong human resource by
providing them good educational and health care services.
Paper Bag Day -
"With paper bags, the world is like a diamond that shines everywhere". With this beautiful thought , the
students of class IV D came up with this wonderful idea to make students aware about the pollution caused
by plastic and the serious threat to nature. The assembly was held on 12 July 2022.It began with a prayer,
followed by a thought, a speech and ended with the slogans on "Paper Bag Day."

Guru Purnima -
On the occasion of Guru Purnima, a Special Morning Assembly was organized by the students of class IX F,
on 9th July, 2022. It began with a melodious hymn by the students. A special thought and a short speech
highlighted the importance of the Guru.Two students performed Guru Vandana in a classical dance form. A
short play was presented by the students, which depicted the immense guidance of the Guru in the life of a
student. It concluded with the ultimate goal of respecting and obeying their Gurus.
Carmel Day Celebration –

The feast of the Lady of Mount Carmel, the patroness of


our school, was celebrated with great reverence on 15th
July, 2022. Students of class VIII E organized a program in
honor of Mother Mary.The celebration began with the
lighting of the lamp, followed by the Bible reading and a
solemn prayer service. Students prayed for the blessings
of Mother Mary at the school. Students threw light on the
history of the Carmelite Order and the importance of the
Scapular through a song of blessing.The program
concluded with a beautiful prayer dance and a prayer song
by the choir.

Rev. Sr.Ramya, our Principal, urged the students to follow


the footsteps of Mother Mary and assimilate her virtues in
their lives.

Kargil Vijay Diwas -


Remember, Renew, Rejoice !!!
On 26th July, 2022, students of class XII E, paid a tribute to
the warriors of Kargil, the heroes who laid down their lives for
this country.The students presented a dance drama.They
portrayed the pain of the family members of these martyrs.

World Nature Conservation Day -


A special morning assembly was organized by class XII B on World Nature Conservation Day.
Its theme for the year 2022 is "Cut Down The Use of Plastic".
The aim was to create awareness amongst the students to preserve Nature.The program began with a short
prayer song, followed by a Sanskrit shloka. It highlighted single use plastic with examples and some
measurable steps to ban its use. A short dance, followed by a drama showcased the damage caused to our
earth by plastic. The notice board was decorated with posters and slogans to enhance the effectiveness of
environmental sensitivity. It culminated with the resolution to launch the campaign.
Hariyali Amavasya -
On the occasion of Hariyali Amavasya, a massive tree plantation drive was carried out on 28th and 29th July,
2022, under the concept of Ankur plantation program.Municipal Corporation Gwalior provided us 450 saplings
including peepal, shisham, tamarind and amla saplings, which were distributed amongst the students of
classes 1st to 10th.
The students came forward in great number for the noble cause and promised to take care of the plantation.

International Tiger Day -


A special morning assembly was organized on 29th July, 2022, by the students of class X A, to mark the
importance of tigers in our ecosystem and the need for their conservation. It was beautifully portrayed through
a poem, wherein, the students enacted as tigers and forest to showcase the dangers faced by tigers. They
also plead to safeguard tigers and to take strong action against poaching and illegal trade. Students
participated with great excitement and were very clear in spreading their message of saving the tigers. It
concluded with a slogan - "For the tiger we must unite, so they don't fade out of sight."
In School Competitions
Poetry Recitation -
An English Poetry Recitation Competition for classes I - III was organized on 2nd July, 2022.The little ones
recited poems wonderfully. Best three entries from each section were awarded.Competition was judged by
the senior teachers of English Department. Students participated actively and used the props beautifully.

Number Riddles –
An Inter House Number Riddles
Competition for classes IV and V was
conducted by Mathematics Department on
2nd July, 2022.Students participated with
great zeal. First position was bagged by
Anushree Dubey of class V B from Red
House and Nirali Shrivastava of IV C from
Yellow House.
Kavya Gayan -
Hindi Kavya Gayan Inter House Competition was organized on 2nd July, 2022 for the students of class VI to
VIII.All the students participated actively. Best three students out of the four groups were awarded First,
Second and Third positions and certificates were also distributed.It helped in building self confidence amongst
the students.Overall this competition was beneficial for all the students.

Brain Teaser –
An Inter House Brain Teaser Competition for
classes IX ,X and XII was conducted by
Mathematics Department on 2nd July, 2022.There
were four participants from each house.Students
participated with great zest.First position was
bagged by Green House,Second position was
taken up by Yellow House and Third position went
to the Blue House.The competition helped the
students to think out of the box and enhanced their
mathematical skills.
Shabd Rachana and Vakya Rachana Competitions -
Both the competitions were organized on 9th July, 2022. Students of classes I and II participated actively in
Shabd Rachana Competition. Simultaneously, class III students were active in Vakya Rachana Competition.
These competitions were evaluated by the teachers of Hindi Department. Students who framed, correctly
spelled words and sentences, from each class were given First, Second and Third positions. Certificates were
also distributed. The objective of these competitions was to acquaint the students with the knowledge of word
formation with correct spelling. Overall these competitions were of great advantage to the students.
Patriotic Singing Competition -
An Inter House Patriotic Group Singing Competition for classes IV and V was organized by the Music
Department on 9th July, 2022. Students participated with great essence of patriotism. There were 16–20
participants per group.The competition was judged by Ms Cami Xtros, Mr. Falit Goyal and Mrs. Sajina Pramod.
Yellow House bagged First position, Blue House got Second and Red House stood at the Third position.

English Spell Bee -


An English Spell Bee Competition was organized for the students of classes I and II on 23rd July, 2022. The
aim was to enhance their language skills. It was a three-round settlement. Primarily, the verbal round of object
identification and spelling was very interesting.The best three entries from each section were awarded.

Solo Dance Competition -


An Interclass Solo Dance Competition based on Retro, Bollywood theme, for class III - V, held on 23rd July,
2022. 30 students participated in the competition. It was judged by various teachers.Three best performances
from each class were awarded. It was indeed an enthralling competition.
Inter House Patriotic Group Singing Competition
An Inter House Patriotic Group Singing Competition was held for Middle ( VI to VIII ) and Senior sections (IX
to XII ) respectively. It was conducted by the Music Department on 23rd July, 2022. Students participated
with fervent patriotism. There were 16-20 participants per group.
The competition was judged by Mrs. Jyoti Bala Sharma, Dr. Nidhi Shukla and Ms. Yakhlesh Baghel.
Group- VI to VIII
First position was bagged by Green House, Second position by Blue House and Third position was taken up
by Yellow House.
Group- IX to XII
First position was bagged by Green House, Second position by Yellow House and Third position was bagged
by Blue House.
Patriotic Group Singing Competition (Inter House and Inter Class) -
An Inter House Patriotic Group Singing Competition for class II - III and Inter Class Patriotic Group Singing
Competition for class I was organized by the Music Department on 30th July, 2022. Students participated with
an intense feeling of patriotism. There were 16–20 participants per group.
The competition was judged by Mrs. Meeta Manohar, Mrs. Meena Agarwal and Ms. Ann Smriti.
Winners (Class Wise) -
I - E - First position, I - A - Second position, I - C - Third position , Consolation - I - B and I - D.
Winners (Inter House) -
Red House secured the First position, Green House stood Second and Yellow House bagged the Third
position.

Just A Minute Competition -


Just A Minute Competition was organized for the classes IV - V on 30th July, 2022. It was an inter house competition
comprising of two rounds. There were two participants from each house. It focused on enhancing their Language skills.
They all performed confidently and were very prompt in framing the compositions based on various topics and pictures
allotted to them in the given time limit. Mahak Bhatija (V C) , Blue House, bagged First position; Anshika Mishra (IV E),
Green House got Second position and Third position was taken up by Varnika Thapa (IV E), Blue House.

FABRIC PAINTING WORKSHOP -


On the occasion of International Tiger Day, a fabric painting workshop was organized by the Art Department on 30th
July, 2022, for the students of std. VIII. This was to bring awareness among the students regarding safeguarding of
these majestic beasts against their extinction.This was a small step to convey the importance of Tigers both as our
National pride and an important part of a balanced ecosystem.
The students were made aware about how since ancient times the hunting of this animal as a source of entertainment
has led it to the verge of extinction and what steps the govt. of India has taken to conserve them.The traditional
importance of Tigers in Indian culture and mythology was also conveyed to the students. In this workshop, the students
came up with their creative abilities by painting T- shirts with a Tiger motif using 3-D Outliners and Fabric colors.
