    Competence Assessor
    Our centres offer the Competence Assessor Training designed to be utilized by any organization where
    assessments are required as part of a competence management system. This program me includes
    three modules. Upon successful completion and with evidence that the skills and knowledge have been
    successfully applied in the workplace, participants will receive an OPITO approved competence assessor
    certificate. This entitles them to assess any area where they themselves are considered to be technically
    competent.

    Target group This program is suitable for supervisors and managers who:
    • Are considered technically competent in the area they are expected to assess.
    • Have the ability to judge whether the performances of the candidate being assessed are
    acceptable and satisfy the necessary criteria.
    • Are able to give constructive feedback to the candidate being assessed on the results of the
    assessment.

    Module 2 Carrying Out the Assessment
    Component 2.1 Defining and agreeing to the assessment process
    Component 2.2 Evaluating evidence and making the assessment decision
    Module 3 Giving Feedback and Record Keeping
    Component 3.1 Giving candidates Feedback on Performance
    Component 3.2 Recording assessment decisions

    Learning outcome On completion of this training, the delegate should be able to understand:
    • The reasons for having competence systems in the workplace
    • Formats of competence standards
    • The value of different evidence sources
    • The methods of assessment and the preferred ones to use
    • The importance of consistency in assessment decisions
    • Record keeping requirement & maintaining confidential information
    • Dealing with difficulties, disputes or appeals
    • The role of OPITO and its requirements relative to “competence” within the oil & gas industry

    Assessment Participants attending the course will also complete a 45 minutes written exam to test underlying
    knowledge and demonstrable skills of the learning outcomes of this OPITO approved competence
    assessor standard.
    On completion of the course, evidence of assessments generated in the workplace is to be
    submitted to RelyOn Nutec within 12 months. This evidence will be assessed by RelyOn Nutec /
    MSTS and if acceptable, the participant will be registered with OPITO and a certificate will be issued.
