☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.

Lesson idea implementation:
My lesson idea is that when students are at home, they get to listen to the podcast that I created
and follow the directions. Their task is to go on a walk and collect different leaves and bring them to
school the next day. They also get to do some predictions about what the book we will be reading at
school might be about. By being able to listen to this audio and follow directions it will demonstrate
their learning. Students will be aware of their goals when listening to the podcast. The goals will be
listed. Students will utilize technology by listening to the audio. The teacher will provide the audio
and have the activity set up for school the next day. Feedback will be provided and the end of the
lesson when students create their “leaf man”. I will conclude the lesson by having a group discussion
about the story making sure the students understand and the students can show what they created.

Managing student learning:

I feel that the students listening to the podcast at home will shift their behavior from a passive to active social
learner because the students are now actively following the directions on their own. When students are
creating their leaf man they will have a specific amount of time to work on it, this way there will be no
distractions and they can actively work independently.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.
This activity supports all students and families because it provides audio but also provides words for
visual learners and in a different language. This way when the students are at home they will be able
to listen and read. And then parents who may speak a different language are able to help their child
if their child needs help. This tool supports engagement because students get to engage in this
activity at home and at school and they get to comprehend the story by doing a craft.

Reflection:
I feel like this activity impacts students learning in a positive way, by being able to bring assignments
home and get parents involved isa great way for students to feel successful. I am most excited to
implement the predictions of the story to reading the story and see if the students’ predictions are
correct. I am also excited for the students to create their own “leaf man” because they get to be
creative.
