 Introduction
The "Hospital Management System" has been developed to
override the problems prevailing in the practicing manual system.
This software is supported to eliminate an in some cases reduce the
hardships faced by this existing system. Moreover, this system is
designed for the particular need of the company to carry out
operations in smooth and effective manner.
The application is reduced as much as possible to avoid errors
while entering the data. It also provides error message while entering
invalid data. No formal knowledge is needed for the user to use this
system. Thus, by this all it proves it is user-friendly. Hospital
Management System, as described above, can lead to error free,
secure, reliable and fast management system. It can assist the user to
concentrate on their other activities rather to concentrate on the
record keeping. Thus, it will help organization in better utilization of
resources.
The purpose of the project is to computerize the front Office
Management of Hospital to develop software which is user-
friendly, simple, fast & cost-effective. It deals with the collection of
patient’s information, diagnosis details etc.
Traditional it was done manually. The main function of the
system is to register and store patient details & and doctor details &
retrieve these details as & when required & also to manipulate these
details meaningful System input contain patient details, diagnosis
details; while system output is to get these details on to screen.
 Abstract
The purpose of Hospital Management System is to automate the
existing manual system by the help of computerized equipment and
full-fledged computer software, fulfilling their requirements, so that
their valuable data/information can be stored for a longer period
with easy accessing and manipulation of the same. The required
software and hardware are easily available and easy to work with.
Hospital Management System, as described above, can lead to
error free, secure, reliable and fast management system. It can
assist the user to concentrate on their other activities rather to
concentrate on the record keeping. Thus, it will help organization
in better utilization of resources. The organization can maintain
computerized records without redundant entries. That means that
one need not be distracted by information that is not relevant,
while being able to reach the information.
The aim is to automate its existing manual system by the help
of computerized equipment & full-fledged computer software,
fulfilling their requirements, so that their valuable
data/information can be stored for a longer period with easy
accessing & manipulation & better services for the clients.
 Objective
The objective of the Hospital management system is to simply
track the knowledge of all the patients, treatment provided, and
also to produce periodic reports for analysis. The main goal of the
software is to make a decent management tool. The main purpose
of this software is to cut back the time taken through the manual
system so as to take care of all the records. This project is helpful
to cut back the time and quality of maintaining the records. It also
helps the incorrect maintenance of patient and patient details. This
project has GUI primarily based software system that can
facilitate storing, updating, and retrieving the information through
varied user- friendly menu-driven modules. It is designed to
achieve the following objectives;
1. To computerize all details regarding patients details & hospital
details.
2. Scheduling the appointment of patient with to make it
convenient for both.
3. The information of the patients should be kept up to date &
their record should be kept in the system for historical purpose.
4. It tracks all the information of Doctor, patient etc.
5. Manage the information of doctor.
 Scope
The proposed software product is the Hospital
Management System. The system will be used in any Hospital,
Clinic, Dispensary or Pathology labs in any Hospital, Clinic,
Dispensary or Pathology labs to get the information from the
patients & then storing that data for future usage.
The current system is use is a paper based system. It is too slow &
cannot provide updated lists of patients within a reasonable
timeframe. The intentions of the system are to reduce over time
pay & increase the number of patients that can be treated
accurately.
 In computer system the person has to fill the various forms
& number of copies of the forms can be easily generated at
a time.
 In computer system it is not necessary to create the
manifest but we can directly print it which saves our time.
 It satisfy the user requirement.
 Easy to understand by the user and operator.
 Easy to operate.
 Have a good user interface.
 Limitations
Hospitals currently use a manual system for
the management and maintenance of critical
information. The current system requires
numerous paper forms, with data stores spread
throughout the hospital management
infrastructure. Often information is incomplete or
does not follow management standards. Forms are
often lost in transit between departments requiring
a comprehensive auditing process to ensure that no
vital information is lost. Multiple copies of the
same information exist in the hospital and may
lead to inconsistencies in data in various data
stores.
 MODULES
Hospital Management System is web application for
hospital which manages doctors and patients.
The entire project mainly consists of 3 modules, which are
i. Admin module
ii. User module (patient)
iii. Doctor module
i. Admin module:
1. Dashboard: In this section, admin can view the Patients,
Doctors, Appointment.
2. Doctors: In this section, admin can add doctor’s
specialization and mange doctors (Add/Update).
3. Users: In this section, admin can view users’ detail (who
take online appointment) and also have right to delete
irrelevant user.
4. Patients: In this section, admin can view patient’s details.
5. Appointment History: In this section, admin can view
appointment history.
6. Reports: In this section, admin can view reports of patients
in particular periods.
7. Patient Search: In this section, admin can search patient
with the help of patient name and mobile number.
Admin can also change his/her own password.
ii. User module (patient)
1. Dashboard: In this section, patients can view the his/her
profile, Appointments and Book Appointment.
2. Book Appointment: In this section, Patient can book his/her
appointment.
3. Appointment History: In this section, Patients can see
his/her own appointment history.
4. Medical History: In this section, Patients can see his/her
own appointment history.
User can update his/her profile, change the password and
recover the password.
iii. Doctor module:
1. Dashboard: In this section, doctor can view his/her own
profile and online appointments.
2. Appointment History: In this section, Doctor can see
patient’s appointment history.
3. Patients: In this section, doctor can manage patients
(Add/Update).
4. Search: In this section, doctor can search patient with the
help of patient name and mobile number.
