TLD Awareness Guide
The TLD badge(s) is stored inside the X-ray/ Cath Lab /C-Arm/Fluoroscopy room.
ü After the work, store your TLD badge in the Reception/Doctor’s room or Admin office
I. Keeping TLD badge inside Bucky tray or near fluoroscopy Tube panel
ü Do not keep or store your TLD badge inside Bucky tray or near fluoroscopy Tube panel
II. Hanging lead apron / apron with TLD badge inside X-ray room
ü Do not hang lead apron with TLD badge near X-ray machine or inside X-ray room
V. TLD badge is used without inserting the card in the TLD holder (Cassette)
ü Use your TLD card after loading it properly into the TLD holder ( Cassette)
ü Always use radiation protection accessories such as Lead apron, which reduces X-ray
radiation by more than 90%
Note:
Ø TLD badge does not provide protection from radiations, it is used to measure the radiation
dose received by person while working with radiation equipment.
Ø Always store Control TLD card outside X-ray/Cath Lab/C-Arm/Fluoroscopy room. Control
TLD badge is used to measure the background radiation.
Ø Keep TLD badge outside X-ray room, when it is not being used by the designated person.
Do’s & Don'ts to prevent recording of non-genuine radiation doses by TLD badges
(TLD badge does not provide protection from radiation, it is used to measure radiation dose received by person wearing it)
Store TLD outside X-ray room when not in use Always Wear your TLD inside lead apron
