This systematic review examines the effect of self-management programs on the quality of life of children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The authors conducted searches across several databases and identified 9 relevant studies. Eight of the nine studies found that self-management programs improved health outcomes, slowed disease progression, and delayed the need for kidney replacement therapy in pediatric CKD patients. However, the review also noted that self-management is complex and requires multidisciplinary support.
