1. Motivation
The students will be divided into two groups and each group will have their own
clap movements. The teacher will teach the pattern of clap movements and as the teacher
calls the group number, the group will stand and do the pattern.
Group 1: clap, clap, stamp (right foot), stamp (left foot), clap, clap
Group 2: clap, clap, snap (right hand), snap (left hand), clap, clap
2. Lesson Proper
Pattern is a set which consists of objects and numbers such that the objects or
numbers are related to one another by a certain rule.
Number Pattern is a set that consists of numbers which are related to one another
by a certain rule.

Repeating Pattern
In repeating pattern, the numbers which are present in the sequence change in the
same way each time. These numbers can be subtracted or added. But, we can use the
same amount or value each time for subtraction or addition.
In table 1, the pattern begins with number 0 and the next numbers are obtained by
adding two to the preceding number.
In table 2, the pattern begins with number 32 and the succeeding terms are
obtained by subtracting three from the preceding number.

Growing Pattern
A growing pattern is a pattern in which the numbers increase, and the amount
added changes each time in a predictable way.
In table 3, the pattern begins with number 20. The second term is obtained by
adding 1 to first and the succeeding terms are obtained by adding a number 1 more than
what was added to the previous. The amount you add increases 1 each time.

Shrinking Pattern
A shrinking pattern is a pattern in which the numbers decrease, and the amount
subtracted changes each time in a predictable way.
In table 4, the pattern begins with the number 81 then we subtracted 9 to get the
second. The succeeding terms are obtained by subtracting the previous with a number
that is 1 less than what was subtracted for the previous. The amount you subtract
decreases by 1 each time.

In this pattern, the number in the numerator of the fraction is the same number
used in the non-terminating repeating decimal.

In table 6 column A, the number of zeroes in the factors equals the number of
zeroes in the product while in column B, as the number of zeroes in divisor increases, the
number of zeroes in quotient decreases.
3. Generalization
There are three different ways of presenting number pattern these are repeating
patterns, growing patterns and shrinking patterns. time. In repeating pattern, the numbers
change in the same way each time. These numbers can be subtracted or added, as long as
it is the same amount each time. A growing pattern is a pattern in which the numbers
increase, and the amount added changes each time in a predictable way. A shrinking
pattern is a pattern in which the numbers decrease, and the amount subtracted changes
each time in a predictable way.
