TRANSFER FILES BETWEEN WINDOWS AND LINUX

1.0 Aims/Benefits of Micro-project

1. Interoperability and collaboration between them.
2. Secure and efficient way to manage and exchange data.
3. It helps you maintain document versions.

2.0 Course Outcomes Addressed

1. Install Linux operating System and configure it.
2. Use Operating system tools to perform various function.
3. Apply file management techniques.

3.0 Proposed Methodology.

1. Install VirtualBox: First we install VirtualBox on our Windows
operating system and have a Linux virtual machine set up within
VirtualBox.
2. Create a Shared Folder: Within the VirtualBox settings on Linux
virtual machine, we set up a shared folder. This folder will be the
bridge for transferring files from the host (Windows) and guest
(Linux) systems and vice versa.
3. Mount the Shared Folder: In Linux virtual machine, mount the
shared folder. This typically involves creating a directory in Linux
file system and mounting the shared folder using a command like
mount.
4. Transfer Files from Windows to Linux: We can now copy files
from our Windows host to the shared folder. These files will be
accessible from the Linux virtual machine in the directory we
mounted the shared folder to.
5. Transfer Files from Linux to Windows: To transfer files from
Linux to Windows, we place them in the shared folder from within
our Linux virtual machine. They will become available on our
Windows operating system in the designated shared folder
location.
