CIS 285 – End User Training and Support

Fall 2023 Assignments
There are three assignments, which cover major topics discussed in class. Students are
expected to apply knowledge and skills learned to solve problems in new environment
and situation. You must collaborate with other students to complete these
assignments. The group size is three or four. Please indicate each student’s contribution
clearly in your report.

When working on your assignment, you are encouraged to use textbooks, lecture notes,
other relevant books, and Web site as references. It is also a good idea to discuss the
questions with other group members. However, you are expected to do your
homework independently within your group. Also, Students names must be entered
into header or footer on each page of your report. The following are the details of the
assignments.

Assignment one (40 marks):

Case Projects Ch1. 4. User Accounts at Foothills Wood Products P53
Case Projects Ch2. 1. An Email Reply for Bug-Free Software Limited P100
Case Projects Ch3. 7. Prepare a Slideshow Presentation P148

Case Projects Ch11. 1. Learn About Learning Styles P538

Working together or copying the ideas of others

As I mentioned earlier, you are expected to produce your own solutions to this
assignment. Copying other peoples’ work is considered plagiarism and is not acceptable.
However, I understand that it is useful to talk over assignments like this with others in
the initial stages in order to get an idea of the scope of the problem. Brainstorming can
be a very productive way to start serious thinking about the intricacies of an assignment.
Please indicate where an idea has been arrived at in discussion with other students (and
make sure the others also agree to indicate it in their work). You won’t be penalized for
brainstorming sessions, but I do want to see which ideas are exclusively yours.

Warning: the Computing School reports all cases of plagiarism and cheating to the
Director of Student Services. Minimum penalty for a first offence is a zero for the
assignment or exam, and the offense will be on your student record for two years.
Subsequent offences bring higher penalties.

How to submit your assignment

Submit your assignment to blackboard before the deadline. Each group only submit
one copy by the specified representative.
Try to share the work equitably, and stay in contact with each other. Try to work out
problems between yourselves, and make sure everyone gets a chance to do some of the
work.
