Vocabulary:

1. Contemporary (adj)

 The increase in cars in the U.S was contemporary with the beginning of fast food
restaurants.

 The hotel was a beautiful example of contemporary architecture

2. Complement (v)
 The team needs players who complement each other.
 She complimented me on my English.
=> Complementary (adj)

3. albeit; in contrast

 The nation is adapting, albeit slowly, to the new global economy.


 The French fries were delicious. In contrast, the burger was cold and tasteless

4. abandon (v)
 We had to abandon the car.
