WEEK 2 Distribution System (Continue)

This document provides an introduction to building services engineering and water supply systems. It discusses the basic components and design of water supply, distribution, and domestic cold water supply systems. Specifically, it describes the requirements and types of water distribution systems, including gravity, pump, and combination systems. It also outlines the different types of layouts for water distribution systems, such as dead end, grid iron, ring, and radial systems. Finally, examples of diagrammatic plumbing layouts are shown for various multi-building systems, including up-feed and down-feed distribution designs for residential and high-rise buildings.

1. UP-FEED
DISTRIBUTION
a. Water supply system
to residential houses is
obtained directly from
the main pipe with the
help of sufficient
gravity pressure.
b. For high rise buildings,
the system requires a
suction tank and
pump to increase the
pressure.

 Diagramatic layout plumbing system to 5

storey walk up flat having individual
pumps after individual meter point..
 Pneumatic cylinder with individual cistern for a tall block of flats
2. DOWN-FEED
DISTRIBUTION
a. These systems require
water storage tank in the
roof level to distribute
water distribution to the
rest of the building is
supplied.
b. Water from the main
pipe only channeled
directly to the kitchen
and into the main
storage tank.
c. The next distribution is
obtained from the
distribution pipe drain
water from the main
tank of the building.
d. The water pressure is
balanced.
