DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY,
ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN
Summary:

In this experiment, we must draw the foundation beam and plinth foundation beam
sections. Second, we need to draw an L-shaped column segment. The second floor is
what we are sketching in most detail. The slab portion and the second story beam are
displayed. Additionally, the x- and y-axes are used to design the slab. The sketching of
stairs is both the most important and the last. This drawing also includes reinforcement
information.

For drawing, we employed a variety of commands, including rectangle, line, trim,

extension line, dimension, unit, limit, dim style, etc.

This artwork also makes use of a brand-new command called hatch. The hatch command
is used to fill patterns inside of a confined region. Hatch, gradient, and solid patterns are
employed.

Objective(s):

 Understand the usage of AutoCAD

 To show the structural details of a building
Scope:
It shows us how exactly the structure (building) is going to work. These drawing prevent
the builders to

Relevance to the industry:

Scope of front elevation plan is very important in civil engineering as it tells us the
planning and designing of an entire building. It also visualizes us external model of
building.
Software Engaged:
 AutoCAD
 Office word
Procedure:
Page 10:
 Firstly, we will open the AutoCAD and then click to start drawing to start our next
step.
 We will set the units according to our need. In this case, it is better to use decimal
type with unit millimeters.

 We will set limit according to the dimensions given to us but we will always put
limit a bit greater than the dimensions given. In this experiment, we have to
specify two corners, one is left which is taken as (0,0) and the right one which is
taken about (24800,9500)
 After this, we will set dimensions. We have to put primary units same as that set-
in case of units. We will also set the height of text which seems suitable to us.

 Now our sheet is ready for drawing.

 We use Different command to make the Footing Section and Beams like Plinth
Beams and also Columns.
 The Different Commands that are used to make a Footing Section are the
following:
 Rectangle Command
 Explode Command
 Offset command
 Hatch Command
 Trim command
 Polyline Command
 Line Command
 Dimension Command (To show the different Dimensions).
 Text command Etc.

Step 1
First of all we have to make a grid using LINE tool. We have to use the line type
(center).Horizontal gap is of 5000 and vertical gap is of 4500.
Step 2:
Now draw columns and label with .For drawing columns you can use
command RECTANGLE or LINE .Label it with the help of tool (add text).

Step 3:
Mention dimensions according to the document provided to you using command
DIMENSIONS.
Final View:

Step 4:
As we have to represent beam plan, use LINE command to draw beam lines.
Final Representation:
Beam plan for First floor:
Step 1:
First draw the grid .the distance between the columns is 5000 but one is of 4350.
Vertically the distance between columns is 4500.Use the Line command for making
grid .Line type is of (CENTER).Draw columns using RECTANGLE or LINE command.

Step 2:
Now draw the beam layout with the help of LINE tool.
Step 3:
Third step is to mention dimensions using command DIMENSIONS.

Beam Layout for stair roof plan:

Step 1:
First draw the grid . Use the Line command for making grid .Line type is of
(CENTER).Draw columns using RECTANGLE or LINE command. Horizontal
dimension is of 4350 and vertically it is 4500.
Step 2:
Now we have to draw the layout of beam and column using the command LINE and
RECTANGLE. Use the command HATCH to colour the column.

Step 3:
Third step is to mention dimensions using command DIMENSIONS.
Final Representation:

Step 1:
In this section, we have to draw a longitudinal section of beam using the grid (A, B,
C).Using the Line command we can easily draw it.Use the OFFSET command to make
stirrups. Below diagram is a combination of beam and column.it contain the Extra bars as
well as the throughout bars.

Step 2:
After drawing the longitudinal section according to the document provided, mention
dimensions where required.

Second Floor Beam Plan along Grid 1,2,3,4

In this section, we have to draw a longitudinal section of beam using the grid
(1,2,3,4).Using the Line command we can easily draw it.Use the OFFSET command to
make stirrups. Below diagram is a combination of beam and column.it contain the Extra
bars as well as the throughout bars.

Step 2:
After drawing the longitudinal section according to the document provided, mention
dimensions where required.
Section at D-D:
In this section we have to draw a cross section of column. The size of column is
400*230.Use the Line command to make the clear cover of column. Second step is to
make bars inside it .there are 3 top bars and 3 bottom bars. The bars are in 12 in diameter.
Make the bars with the help of Circle command.
Section at C-C:
In this section we have to draw a cross section of column. The size of column is
400*230.Use the Line command to make the clear cover of column. Second step is to
make bars inside it .there are 5 top bars and 5 bottom bars. The bars are in 12 in diameter.
Make the bars with the help of Circle command.

Staircase Plan:
Step 1:
Step 1 is to draw a layout of columns and walls including the windows.

Step 2:
Next step was to design stair case .As it was a top view ,so we were supposed to
consider dimensions of tread that was 300mm.some of the stairs are drawn from hidden
lines as they cant be seen from top view .

Step 3:
Now mention the dimensions where required.

Landing Beam:
Step 1:
First of all we have to draw a clear cover having dimensions 230*230.

Step 2:
In this step we have to a debars, it have top 2 bars and bottom 2 bars having dimensions.

Step 3:
Now we have to mention dimensions of the bars provided, length, and depth of the beam.
Step 1:
Reinforcement Details of Staircase Flight-1:
Main step of this is to provide details of the reinforcement .As you can see below where
the bars are provided. You can easily make rears using CIRCLE command. Make the use
LINE command to draw stair flight.

Step 2:
Now mention the dimensions of the reinforcement provided in the staircase.
Reinforcement Details of Staircase Flight-2
Step1:
Main step of this is to provide details of the reinforcement .As you can see below where
the bars are provided. You can easily make rears using CIRCLE command. Make the use
LINE command to draw stair flight.

Step 2:
Now mention the dimensions of the reinforcement provided in the staircase.

Final Representation:
 We will draw the title box which is necessary to draw in all the drawings.

 Then we will save the file and can print it by the print option. We can also review
our drawing before printing it.
 From using printing tool, you can preview your document, is it visible to you after
converting it to in PDF or not.
 Make sure to select the option (Center the plot) doing this will make your drawing
in center.
Conclusion
Learning 2D designs to draw on autocad plays an important role in civil engineering field
as with innovative ideas and creative imagination, the user can create realistic
presentations with AutoCAD. It provides the necessary tools and workflow to design and
build great products. It can help to reduce the time it takes to produce the drawings
needed in the work environment. However if the individual that has created the imported
file does not receive credit for their work, problems may arise in the future. As well, by
using the function people may slowly start to place a lesser value on the intellectual
property of others, which will undoubtedly create future conflict. The use of the import
function may also be relied on heavily in order to create efficiencies within the industry.
This could possibly lead to a decrease in the rate of innovation. It's obvious that the
import function has a place in the building industry, but its use will have to be regulated
in order to create a balance between the negative and the positive effects it creates.
