NEC4: ECC Project Manager Accreditation

Welcome to the post course assessment for your accreditation programme. Upon
successful completion of this assessment, you will receive certification of NEC
Accreditation and the opportunity to be listed on the ICE Register for Accredited
NEC Professionals.

The assessments are designed to test:

 that you know your knowledge and understanding of the specific NEC
contract and role in action
 your ability to identify and act upon the good practice that the contract
requires of you and others, and
 that you have the complex technical and practical skills necessary to excel
in your role as a project leader.

Online assessments for NEC Accreditation and Extension courses –


Conditions:

 Achieving the award of an accreditation ensures that you are recognised as


being a credible and authentic authority, and is not, by definition, a quick or
easy process.
 The online assessment is a formal, summative assessment designed to
gauge your level of understanding of the topic.
 It is a final examination where you are expected to meet a required grade
within a set timeframeIt is not designed as an informal, formative
assessment where you are given ongoing feedback focussing on your
knowledge gaps.
 No feedback is therefore offered against assessment questions.

The assessment is in two parts. You need to pass each part.

 PART ONE is composed of multiple choice questions

 You will need to score 70% to progress to part two


 You will have three attempts to gain the required pass mark.
 PART TWO is composed of long answer, essay style questions
 You will need to score 70% to pass
 You will have a choice of questions to answer
 You should be able to answer in 750 - 1,000 words but they should be
no more than 1,500 words per question (including sub-parts)
 You do not need to repeat the question in your answer
 For each situation you should:
 Summarise the issue presented
 Identify the relevant clauses and contract processes, explaining
why
 State any actions which should be taken to rectify the situation
 Identify any way you could prevent it happening again
 Describe how you would establish mutual trust and cooperation
 You should ensure that each question uses the correct terminology
and notation. The assessors will remove up to 5 marks per question
as per the table below
 The answer submitted should be your own work and you should not
share your work with others. Plagiarism in any part of any question is
an automatic fail for the whole assessment
 Once you have clicked on the submit icon your answers are locked.
They cannot be retrieved for further editing. You will not be allowed to
submit any amendments or addendums by email afterwards

NEC ACCREDITATION PROGRAMME


Common errors leading to the deduction of 1 mark (up to a maximum of 5 marks
can be deduct in any one question)

Code Error description


Using a defined term without capital initials / using a term with capital initials that
M1
is not a defined term in clause 11.2
Using an identified term without it being in italics / using a term in italics that is
M2
not a term identified in Contract Data
Using an inappropriate verb - eg "raising" an early warning, "issuing" a
M3
compensation event, "rejecting" something (as opposed to not accepting it) etc
M4 Using an abbreviation without first explaining or defining it
M5 Incorrectly referring to a process or provision - eg notifying an early warning
when it is not one of the defined early warnings or combining an early warning
and a notification of a compensation event (16.1 final sentence)
M6 Referring to provisions or clauses that are not relevant to the answer
M7 Not answering the question directly
M8 Failure to correctly segregate answers to subsections - eg a. , b., c. etc
