INTRODUCTION

We, Pangilinan, Jaylle, Pascual, Marl Christian, Mibulos, Chelsy Marie, Nocido, Christian Lance
currently taking the subject Probability and Statistics (MATH 032) under Professor Rogelio Erfe Jr. of the
Math and Physics Department T.I.P. Manila.

All students in this class are required to do a survey project to assist apply the fundamental
statistical techniques. In order to gather raw data, we conducted a survey with 10 questions and 31
respondent. After gathering the raw data, we tabulated the answers, elaborated, and further analyzed
the data with the use of a pie chart, bar graph, and histogram. Additionally, we formulated a descriptive
conclusion or the summary of the data including the mean, median, and mode.

The results and findings of this study are demonstrated and discussed in detail in Elaboration and
Conclusion of Results. The outcomes are displayed s of student language usage in their daily life. The
main determining factor of response was the exposure of 31 students from the Technological Institute of
The Philippines (TIP) digital screens survey.

ELABORATION AND CONCLUSION OF RESULTS

Elaboration:

This survey's main goal was to identify which teaching approach was more effective. We asked 31 random
TIP students with the help of google form to conduct our survey and study the results. To accurately identify which
teaching modality produces a better student performance. The advantages and pitfalls of both must be
systematically studied. It has been demonstrated that both techniques are highly effective. The findings of this study
are meant to inform the administrators, and educators on which platform might be the most beneficial to students
nowadays.

The first question investigated why the students choose to study in TIP (Technological Institute Of The
Philippines). To explore more about our first question we used a traditional pie chart to analyze the data. A pie chart
uses a circular graph to visually display data. It is one of the most popular graphs used to depict data because it
uses the characteristics of spheres, circles, and angular data to represent information from the actual world. When
carrying out the survey 39% of the respondents choose TIP for a good and quality education, meaning that based
on the results we can assume that most of the students really value and invest in their education.

The second survey question was posed to evaluate their number 1 determinant affecting their class
selection decision. In the investigation to find which factors influenced decision-making in selecting decisions.
Five determinant factors were extracted from the data. As indicated in the pie chart majority of the respondents
finds level of difficulty as their biggest determinant in affecting their decisions. The second highest determinant
relates to student personal matters or reason, indecisiveness and a friend's influence both have 10% as their
percentage and lastly 13% of the result are for working student who struggles to make a quick decision as they
need to think of their working hours.

The investigation for the third question results to many students pull all-nighters accompanied by gallons of coffee
to get their study sessions in. Yet we all know, this is never the best method. Yet we all keep doing it. Students are
devoting more time to academic preparation. Apparently in our conducted survey TIP students spend more time
studying. Based on our graph as the total frequency is set to 31 which is the total respondents we gathered, students
really pull an all nighter and invest in their future.

The graph shows that more than 9 hours per week a student spends only spend their time studying. The graph
shows a tie gap between 5 hours and 1-3 hours per week. On the contrary the result would seem most logical and
realistic as the students really value their education.Visual media, such as watching a movie, is part of our lives.
As we analyzed the question number 4 of our survey, it resulted that most of the respondents watched
movies. The question given was utilized when participants list down their 3 most favorite movies that they can
keep repeating for over the last 10 years and it resulted in many different genres and types of movies. It shows that
they don’t have the same taste when it comes to movies, as this resulted in a very unlikely movie preference. Each
participant has preferred a genre that they can keep watching. The genre difference shows that each of them have
unique liking and selection that reflects their personality and uniqueness.

Social media is an inseparable part of our everyday lives. It is always there, from the moment we wake up
until we fall asleep with our phone in hand. The findings won’t really surprise people nowadays as being on social
media means a lot to a student. Our finding shows that 48% of the respondents really spends more than 5 hours a
day on social media, 29% of the says that they only spend 3-4 hours a day, and lastly there still some who spends
not much time like those 16% who just spend 2-3 hours a day and a 7% of them who only spend 1-2 hours a day.
The result shows that social media on students really has a great factor, like it is their way to keep in touch and it
plays a big role to them as they feel more connected towards each other. Students spending too much time on social
media is not surprising but it can be scary because it can also affect their aspects in life.

Teaching is hard work and some teachers never grow to be anything better than mediocre. They do the bare
minimum required and very little more. The great teachers, however, work tirelessly to create a challenging,
nurturing environment for their students. Based on our findings the attributes have similarities and all of them are
on the good side. The result shows that the most favorite attribute of a teacher is kind, approachable, considerate,
and they give good grades. The similarities of these attributes plays a big role in a student's academic life. Students
nowadays are really looking for a teacher that can teach them effectively, the results show that if the teachers have
these kinds of attributes the student will effectively learn and will have the right mindset and be precise toward
his/her decision and academic life.

The Filipino language is really rich as it evolves tremendously creating a richer vocabulary. Further, amid a
getting richer Filipino language is a hope for a virtuous Filipino slang words vocabulary that would at least ease the
evolution of a depraved choice of words among students. The finding shows that most of the participants used a
tagalog slang as their part of being student. We have categorized the different slang that is used nowadays. The
result tells us that the most common used slang words are the newest one like the “omsim” “tru” “vebs” “lods”
“lodi”.

The graph shows us that the total frequency we get from the new slangs are the majority, students are very much
used with this kind of words as it is their identity in a conversation style. This is visible to the result of the
questionnaire .

Games are as much a part of life as studying and partying. A survey was distributed through TIP students.
The participants consist of 31 students. The findings show that the most 3 games played are Valorant, Mobile
Legends, and Call of Duty. Two of these game share same genre which is a shooting game and the other one is
solely a mobile multi player game. The result shows that valorant have at least almost 80%, mobile legend is in
71% and lastly the mobile legends with a percentage of 67%.

The vast majority of students had previously been active on social media. The most popular platform was
Facebook, with total of 29 frequency, of students active on the platform. Instagram, Tiktok and Twitter were next
in popularity with a total frequency of, 18, 18, 15. In this survey, Facebook usage surpassed all other platforms.
Considering prior media literacy, therefore, the use of Facebook perhaps offers the best opportunity for educators
to introduce social media within their classrooms. Facebook may be the easiest social-media platform to integrate
into the classroom, particularly for the purpose of student engagement and collaboration. With this result we
recommend that the educators will acknowledge the potential of social media as a pedagogical tool and recognise
that social media is a diverse suite of applications and that different student bodies use and are familiar with
different social-media platforms.

Understanding student choices among classroom, fully online, and hyflex, and onsite. Our findings shows
that among the total frequency of 31, a total frequency of 14 still wants a fully online platform, an onsite phase
with the total frequency of 10, a hyflex with 5 in total and lastly a total of 1 frequency for the option it depends on
the subject. We can agree that fully online classes is more flexible, convenient, and budget friendly. It is really easy
to a have self-paced and accessible learning anytime and anywhere.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, during this time of a global pandemic, people are most likely spending much more time on
digital devices. That includes college students. It's natural when isolating or in quarantine to turn to digital devices
for information and relationships. The findings show that most students really spend so much time on their digital
screen. Students prefer the online set-up which causes more screen time compared to an onsite set-up. The screen
has become the gateway to entertainment, social interaction, information and education. Screens have become even
more embedded in our everyday lives for both adults and children. Students nowadays should know the value of
limiting their screen time.

Additionally our findings with the question about a student spend time on social media and the student spends time
studying really concur with the result that student really spends more screen time, the finding has a 48% result and
that is a more than 5 hours using social media a day and also we can’t deny that students while they are studying,
they tend to use their digital devices and that results to 7 out of 31 total frequency which they spend more than 9
hours studying.

This wraps up the outcome and answered the determining factor of our study. With all these we have to learn how
to co-exist with the use of screen time and health especially our dear students who is most affected and they tend to
use a lot of screen time nowadays, we also need to learn how to be constructive of its use. Too much screen time
may be detrimental to students. Balance is essential in most aspects of life. Students should not be asked to limit
their screen time, but rather to be cautious not to overdo it.
