“Tuesday with Morrie”

Tuesday with Morrie, this book discusses what are the importance in life when you are

going old or may be now at your age. And also, this book is biography of Morrie Schwartz,

written by his old student which is Mitch Albom, and this man also the author of The Five

People You Meet In Heaven.

This book titled by Tuesday with Morrie because every Tuesday Mitch is going to the

house of Morrie, to talk about the world, feelings, regrets, death, family, emotions, money and so

on… Morrie is a old professor of Mitch, he become his professor in a long time, and also he

became a professor in philosophy, therefor because of that Mitch is idolize him and follow his

teaching it’s either in life or in academic’s. Morrie is a great teacher, and a good dancer, the

music is not matter rock and roll, big band, the blues. He loved them all, and the partner is no

matter, he can dance by himself.

Mitch Albom was a student at Brandeis University. While earning his undergraduate

degree, he took a sociology class from Morrie Schwartz. Mitch and Morrie became close;

and at graduation, Mitch promised Morrie he would keep in touch but does not. Mitch

had dreams of becoming a musician but abandons those dreams when his uncle dies. He

becomes a workaholic and successful financially and materially. After seeing his old

professor on an episode of Nightline, Mitch begins to visit Morrie, and eventually

reassesses his work habits. He learns to place personal happiness over material wealth

and success.
Morrie Schwartz was a sociology professor at Brandeis University. He values spending

time creating positive and meaningful relationships with others over having financial and

material success. In 1994, he was diagnosed with ALS. Instead of wallowing in self-pity

over his diagnosis, he takes time to teach people--including Mitch through their visits and

others through his Nightline appearances--how to accept death and aging.

 Ted Koppel is a journalist and interviewed Morrie for three Nightline interviews. During

their first interview, Koppel is a little abrupt with Morrie and even surprised by the

personal questions Morrie asked him. It doesn't take long before Koppel warms to Morrie

and seems to like him.

 Peter is Mitch's younger brother and lives in Spain. He is undergoing treatment for

pancreatic cancer and has very little contact with Mitch. Eventually, he and Mitch begin

talking.

 Janine is Mitch's wife. She is a professional singer, and she sings for Morrie when she

accompanies Mitch on a visit.
