studio synchronization successfully, when in the "mainframe equipment in the project" will
display all the projects in the mainframe, click to select the required project, all the tasks in the
project will be displayed in the right box of the "mainframe device in the task" list, select the need
to download the data file (batch selection is available), click "Add", select the data added to the
bottom of the " Need to be uploaded to the Geomative Studio task column "list. If the user needs
to delete the data in the GD, select the data to be deleted in the "Task in the host device" list and
click "Delete". The data in the GD will be deleted.
Note: Users here can change to other projects, and the corresponding "data" in the project is
added to the "need to upload to Geomative Studio task column".

If all of the data is downloaded to the "need to upload to Geomative Studio task list" list,
click "upload", the data files will be uploaded to Geomative Studio in the corresponding project
directory. And the success of the "need to upload to Geomative Studio task column" column of the
task will automatically disappear. If user add the "need to upload to Geomative Studio task
column" list of data, do not need to upload, select the corresponding data, click "delete", the data
will be removed from the list.

Note: If the project in the GD mainframe is not created by the

pc-side Geomative studio, the system will automatically generate the

corresponding project name under the main interface of the Geomative

studio.
Successfully uploaded data will be saved to the Geomative database and presented in the
project management interface, users can browse and edit in this interface, and will automatically
divided into two tasksafter the task which isthe use of auxiliary device upload

4.2 Data Browser

The downloaded data files are stored in the Geomative database and presented in the project
management interface, where users can browse and edit them.
Select "Management - Project" in the toolbar, and enter the "Project Management" main
interface.
On the left side "Data List", select "Project - Location - Data File".where showthe details of
the data file on the right list. The grounding resistance will appear on the right side"list. At the
same time, the data-related properties are displayed in the "task attribute area" of the middle box.
In the "data file detail" list will show the data, A, B, M, N, the number of iterations, the
device coefficient K, current value, voltage, apparent resistivity R0, R value, spontaneous
potential SP, , The polarizability or charge rate is also displayed.
In the "Ground Resistance Detail" list, the ground resistance values of the electrodes
currently tested are presented. If there is the resistivity data, the grounding resistance will be
displayed in P1, the P2 and P2 status is displayed as blank. If there is the excitation data, the
grounding resistance will be displayed in P1, P2, P1 is mean to the ground electrode between the
grounding resistance, P2 is mean to the receiving electrode between the grounding resistance.

4.3 2D ERT Data Diagram

The user can display 2D resistivity data in the form of a quasi-cross-section
throughGeomative studio.
Firstly, select the 2D data file in the data list; select "Project - Operation - Profile" in the
toolbar or select the test task and right click;
Select "profile", , the data will be displayed in graphical form in pop-up quasi-section
window.

4.4 Data sorting

Select the test task list, select the menu above the data, and sort the data from large to small
or from small to large. As shown in the figure below, they are sorted by current and voltage.Sort to
find outliers in the data quickly.
4.5 Bad point delete
There are two ways to remove bad points:
1) Press the shift key to select the bad point to be removed, and right click "Remove".

2) Select the data list, choose to delete the bad points according to the electrode, enter
the electrode number you want to delete, then the points defining the electrode
number will be deleted.
4.6 Export Data
Users can export the measured data with three forms, such as DAT, Excel and TXT. In 2D and
3D ERT or IP sounding, the exported DAT format file can be used directly for RES2DINV
software processing, and Excel and TXT Format file can view data related parameters.
Select the data file;select "Project - Operation - Export Data" in the toolbar.

Or click "right" , select "export data" in the pop-up menu.

check the need to output the data format, including DAT, Excel or TXT format, and select the
file output path in the pop-up box;
Note: The exported data file is saved in C: \ Geomative \ Data \ test project \ by default.

Check the data format, click "OK" button, the data export successfully.

5.1 Attention Before Testing

GD supports multi-channel measurement.The 2D ERThas 3-channel, 5-channel, 10-channel
three options.ERT cable configured 10 take-out and 20 take-out two models. For 10-channel
mainframeconfiguration, the same transmitter A, B, can be collected up to 10 sets of data at a time.
When start tomulti-channel test, L-type extension cable is necessary parts for test.while GD also
supports the single-channel test functions. When comes to single channel, user can choose a single
channel when creating a task, the task defaults to multi-channel.
When GD is for multi-channel collection, the use of the maximum channels to
support the measurementfor any script, but the need for multi-channel collection
requires certain conditions:
1) When collecting multiple sets of data, transmitter is necessary to correspond
as the same, thatmeans AB value be the same.
2)In the same value A and B case ,M, N can be arranged for achieve more
channel collection, the former group of N and the next group of M should be same
asbelow:A B M N
3 1 10 11
3 1 11 12
3 1 12 13
3 1 13 15
3 1 16 17
Therefore, some devices such as wennerα, wennerβ, wennerγ, Schlumberger,
Wenner-schlumberger, because each group of data A, B are different, it can not support
multi-channel.
However, in order to improve efficiency, these configuration support the auxiliary script
function.whilethe auxiliary script is limited to the script type under the device type, and need to
remove the device other than the main device type, which can not select two kinds of the same
device types, and both of the two script electrode numbersare exactly the same. When using the
auxiliaryscript, the point in the task is equal to the sum of the two scripts, and the total number of
points is not reduced, but for the multi-channel part, you can use 2 channels for testing.
For pole-dipole dipole-polepole-poledipole-dipoleedge-gradient DoubleSide-3P Cross-hole
dipole bipole up-hole devices, since multi-channel conditions are met to the script, multi-channel
tests can be performed directly and auxiliary scripts can not be setted.
The GD mainframe also needs to be used with Geomative software, where GD collects data
and Geomative software manages engineering, scripts and data. Therefore, before install
Geomative software when using GD (see Section 2.1 for details) .
Before testing, the user need to ensure that the mainframe works and the needed script has
edited, each project can include up to 50 test tasks, engineering and non-standard script needs to
be created on the Geomative, and then input into the mainframe.GD prepared a defaultedproject
"test project", it can be used directly.
The GD script is divided into standard scripts, non-standard scripts.
Standard script: mainframe comes with the script, do not need to import through the software,
can not be deleted. As the 3D test script changable, 3D test have no standard script anymore, only
use non-standard script.
Non-standard script: user through Geomativeto define the script, according to their needs to
create a script, and import to the mainframe for use.

5.2 How to improve test efficiency?

When doing certain testing,if the test purpose is already clearly, the depth is known, you can
filtrate some not need testing points, thus will improve efficiency. Some pending testing points in
green areas in as below picture.
5.3 How to add a terrain file?
Apparent resistivity curve by ERT measured is easy be impacted to distortion occurs. It will
bring about the inversion result occur false or false construct, thereby bring about wrong
interpretionresult. Therefore, when in practicalwork, the data shall be topographical correction.
Geomative studio software also provide the function to add terrain files to the DAT data
format.
First of all,select“terrain”shortcut menu.

In popup add terrain file menu, select the leading-in data as shown below.
Select the file output path in the popup option box, select the dat file to add terrain file(Only
one choose file at a time),open and join the file.

Select and open the datfile, settingthe terrain file parameters.

Terrain file parameters:
Horizontal distance :By virtue of GPS locate, coastal plane direction as the X axis, you will
get the exact position.
Vertical dimension: Using test ropes, cables wiring direction as X axis, due to surface
fluctuate, there is certain angles between the direction and actual level.
X-axis: The coordinates can be the actual elevation, but also can be a point as a reference
point (such as the starting point) to get the coordinates.
Y-axis: The coordinates can be the actual elevation, but also can be a point as a reference
point (such as the starting point) to get the coordinates.
The first electrode corresponds to the terrain data point number: Due to it’s not each
electrodes need to be recorded,so we ned to input the start position of the recording.
When you finish the setting, select”savedata”,there will new cerate a dat file, The dat file is
modified on the original file for terrain files.
