Teacher's Activity Student's Activity

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the
new lesson
Good morning class.
Good morning ma'am.
Everybody please stand-up and start our day with a
prayer.
Diane please lead the prayer
In the name of the Father...
Before you sit down please pick-up the pieces of
paper and dirt under your chair.
(the students will do the task)
Before we start our lesson for today, I have 2 rules
for the whole class:
#LISTEN - If someone is speaking or reciting
please listen as a sign of respect

I have an activity for this morning entitled "FIND

ME". I want you to group yourself into 3 groups.
Choose a leader, a secretary and a representative to
present the group work. Secretaries please list of
the entire group member in a 1/4 sheet of paper
give it before the presentation.
I'll give a piece of paper for every group consists of
their task for the activity. Finish in 5 minutes.
Understand?
Yes ma'am.
I have a rubric for this activity:
Correctness 40%
Presentation 30%
Cooperation 20%
Time 10%
100%

Time start now!

Group 1
1. The ratio of a number x and four added to

two.
2. The sum of b and two less than the square x/4
x/4 ++ 22 b^2 – 10y + 6
and b. (b+2)
3. Ten times a number y increased by six. =2+

Group 2
1. The product of the square root and three and 1. 2. 3.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
The purpose of this lesson to illustrate and
simplify rational algebraic expression.
C. Presenting example/ instances for the new lesson
What is algebraic expression?
Yes, Lourinz?
An algebraic expression is an expression built up
from constant algebraic numbers, variables,
How about rational number?
Yes, Christian?
A rational number, in Mathematics, can be
defined as any number which can be represented in
the form of p/q where q ≠ 0.
How about rational algebraic expression?
Yes, Baby Joy? A rational algebraic expression is a ratio of two
polynomials provided that the denominator is not
equal to zero. In symbols: P/Q, where P and Q are
polynomials and Q ≠ 0.
How can you read this algebraic expression?
x^2 + 5 /x +2
Yes, Luis? It read as x squared plus five divided by x plus two

What is simplifying?
Yes, Ronald? Simplify simply means to make it simple. In
mathematics, simply or simplification is reducing
the expression/fraction/problem in a simpler form.
It makes the problem easy with calculations and
solving.
How do we simplify a fraction?
Yes, Alexander?
In order to simplify fractions:
1. Look at the numerator and the denominator
and find the highest common factor.
2. Divide both the numerator and the
denominator by the HCF.
3. Write the fraction in its simplest terms.
Who can simplify this fraction 7/28?
Yes, Prince? Answer: 7/28 = 7/28 ÷ 7/7 = 1/4
How can we simplify the rational expression?
Yes, Brent? To simplify a rational expression, you need to:
1. Factor the numerator and denominator.
2. Cancel the common factors.
3. Simplify the resulting expression by
ensuring that there are no common factors
other than 1 in the numerator and the
denominator.
Alternatively, you can rewrite the complex rational
expression as a division problem and divide the
expressions.
Who can simplify this equation x / 2x^2?
Yes, Angelyn?
Answer: x/2x^2 = x/2x^2 ÷ x/x = 1/2x
Did you understand it now class?
Yes, ma'am.
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new
skills #1
How about this 2x^2y^2/16x^3y^2?
Yes, Cristy? Answer: 2x^2y^3/16x^3y^2=
(2)(x)(x)(y)(y)(y)/(2^4)(x)(x)(x)(y)(y) = y/8x

E. Developing mastery
The same group for this activity. Each group
will pick a paper with a given task. Choose a
representative to discuss the answer. You will be
given 5 minutes to solve.

Group 1 Answer:
1. 20d/70d^2 1. 2/7d
2. 6r-36/r-6 2. 6

Group 2 Answer:
1. 27h^2/36h^3 1. 3/4h
2. s+8/2s+16 2. 1/s+2

Group 3 Answer:
1. 24c^2/36c^2 1. 2/3
2. n+3/n^2+4n+3 2. 1/n+1

F. Finding practical application of concept and

skills in daily living
Problem:
Pipe A can fill a tank in 40 minutes. Pipe B. can
fill the tank in x minutes. What part of the tank is
filled if either of the pipes is opened in ten
minutes? Solution:
Pipe A fills 1/40 of the in 1 minute. Therefore, the
rate is 1/40 of the tank per minute. So after 10
minutes, 10◦1/40 = ¼ of the tank is full.
Pipe B fills 1/x of the tank in x minutes. Therefore,
the rate is 1/x of the tank per minute. So after x
minutes, 10◦1/x = 10/x of the tank is full.
Rate of work ◦ time worked = work done [r ◦t = w]
G. Making generalization and abstraction about the
lesson
What is rational algebraic expression? A rational algebraic expression is a ratio of two
Yes, Lourinz? polynomials provided that the denominator is not
equal to zero. In symbols: P/Q, where P and Q are
polynomials and Q ≠ 0.
H. Evaluating learning
Answer in ½ crosswise the exercises on
Mathematics Learners Module page 73.

I. Additional activities for application and

remediation.
Assignment;
Answer on your notebook exercises on
Mathematics Learner’s Module page 78.
J. Reflection
A. Numbers of Learners who earned 80% the
evaluation.

B. No. of learners who require additional

activities for remediation who scored below 80%.

C. Did the remedial learn work? No. of learners

who caught up with the lesson.

D. No. of learners who continue require

remediation

E. Which of my teaching strategies work well. Why

did these work?

F. What difficulties did I encounter without my

principal or supervisor can help me solve.

G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/

discover which I wish to share with other teacher
