1.2.2 How to prevent lines of Print Head due to paper attack to the Head
(2) Symptom
Lines of Print Head occur.
(3) Cause
The curled paper sometimes attacks the head and scratches the coating on the surface of the head. It causes lines due to
the varnish injection error from nozzle.
(4) Solution
(a) Measure 1
Ask the customer to be careful not to use the curled paper.
(b) Measure 2
The standard gap between the head and the surface of paper is 1.5 mm. Recommend the gap to 1.8 - 2.0 mm.
Note
In case image quality like varnish registration is not good, be careful to increase the gap step by step
confirming image quality.

1.2.5 Streaks/Lines on the part of an output image (Marks of the feeder roller)
(2) Symptom
Up to 4 paper scratches between the middle and end of the paper occur depending on the paper type such as the gloss
paper.
(3) Cause
The feeder roller scratches the paper when the feeder roller stops.
(4) Solution
1. Press the wrench icon on the Pilot screen.
- 10 -
Troubleshooting Guide 1. Image quality
Example:
If you enter 100 mm, the stop timing of the feeder roller delays by 100 mm. (The roller rotates additionally for 100
mm.)
Adjust the value to stop the roller after the paper passes, with checking the stop timing of the roller visually.
Note
If you enter the very large value, the roller can pull the next paper and the paper jam can occur.
Therefore, enter the value carefully.
Check the rotation and stop of the paper feed roller, and
enter an appropriate value.

1.2.6 Streaks/Lines on the part of an output image (Air enters into the head)
(2) Symptom
Varnish is not applied in the varnish injection range, and streaks appear.
(3) Cause
Air enters into the head.
Note
Be sure to wear gloves during the operation.
Put a mat around the machine, and keep varnish from spilling on a floor.
If the varnish adheres to your eyes or skin, stop the operation and clean the parts where it adheres.
If the varnish adheres to your eyes, especially see a doctor.

Troubleshooting Guide 1. Image quality
(5) Solution
1. Enter the service mode from the Pilot screen. (Password: 94204)
Note
Perform the following steps carefully because this setting disables the door opening and closing
detection switch.
3. Attach the foam (white cleaning tool) to a stick for cleaning the head.
6. Start the purge, and check that the varnish is dripping from the head.
Check that the bubbles occur on the head surface that is the same position as the streaks on the paper.
While the varnish is dripping, smoothly rub the head with the foam of the stick to remove bubbles.
Note
Be sure to remove the bubbles before the purge finishes.
After the purge, the machine takes the released air into the head, the purge tray starts to move and
starts the wiping operation. Therefore, it is dangerous for you to remove the bubbles after the purge
finishes.
- 13 -
Troubleshooting Guide 1. Image quality
7. After the operation is completed, close the rear door with giving your attention to the moving purge tray.
8. After finishing all the purge operation including the wiping, perform the output tests as usual and check no streaks on
the prints.
9. Enter the service mode from the Pilot screen. (Password: 94204)
Set “Open door detection” of “4 Machine configuration” to ON, and enable the open and close detection function of the
door switch.

1.3 Adjustment
1.3.1 Image shift and bold letters on using twin bar head
(2) Symptom
The image quality varies on using twin bar head.
(3) Cause
When the varnish injection timing of bar 2 is not matched for one of bar 1, this problem occurs.
When the paper detection timing by the top cell sensor differs substantially, the position of varnish is largely shifted.
(4) Solution
1. Adjust the top cell sensor to prevent variation in the injection timing.
Note
Generally, we recommend the way to adjust the timing of bar 2 based on bar 1.
For fine patterns and fine lines, we recommend the way to adjust the timing of bar 1 based on bar 2.

<Adjustment items>
Adjust following items depends on situation if the printed square is not correct. Confirm the belt behavior in each steps.
Basically, order of adjustment should be performed item of few influence first like just removing/attaching or easy
adjustable item.
Scanner Calibration: Check the result of trouble shooting mode with full scanner mode. And adjust it.
Guide position adjustment: Make sure the small gap between belt edge and belt guide if the belt hit strongly or keep
touch one side continuously. This gap may make smooth belt conveyance. (For JV3DS)
Guide remove: If the belt edge still contact the guide even the guide was shifted in maximum, remove the guide. (For
JV3DS)
Alignment adjustment of belt tension roller: Adjust the angle of the roller to align that the belt convey straightly.
