The document discusses various number and word patterns. It provides examples of arithmetic sequences, patterns that increase or decrease by a fixed amount, and patterns that alternate elements. It also discusses word patterns such as consonant blends/digraphs and vowel diphthongs. Examples are given to demonstrate finding the next element in a sequence based on the pattern. Encryption of words by shifting letters a certain number of positions in the alphabet is also explained.

Number Pattern

- A pattern is a series of numbers that follow a particular pattern or

sequence.

1. Let’s find the next two numbers by following each pattern:

2, 4, 6, 8, ____ , ____
The pattern in the given sequence 2, 4, 6, 8 is an arithmetic sequence with a
common difference of 2.
To find the next two numbers, we simply adding, continue the pattern by
adding 2 to the last number in the sequence:

2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12
Therefore, the next two numbers in the sequence are
10 and 12.
2. Let’s find the next two numbers in the pattern :

1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, ____ , ____

To determine the pattern, let’s examine the given sequence:

1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11.
If we look closely, we can observe that each number in the sequence is
obtained by adding 2 to the previous number.
For example, starting with 1, we add 2 to it to get the next number in the
sequence, which is 3. Then adding 2 to 3 gives us 5, and so on.
This pattern continues for each subsequent number 1 + 2 =3 , 3+2=5 ,
5+2=7 , 7+2=9 , 9+2=11.
Therefore, the rule to determine the pattern is that each number is obtained
by adding 2 to the previous number in the sequence.
Using this rule, we can find the next two numbers in the pattern:

11 + 2 = 13 and 13 + 2 = 15.
Hence, the next two numbers in the sequence are 13 and 15.
3.What is the next number in the sequence:

30, 27, 24, 21, ____

The given sequence 30, 27, 24, 21 follows a specific
pattern or rule. In this case, the rule is that each
successive term is reduced by 3 from the previous term.
To see this pattern, let's look at the difference between
consecutive terms:
27 - 30 = -3 , 24 - 27 = -3 , 21 - 24 = -3
As you can see, the difference between each term is
always -3.
This means that to get the next term in the sequence,
we need to subtract 3 from the current term.
Starting with the first term, 30, we subtract 3 to get the
next term:
30 - 3 = 27
We can continue this process to find the subsequent
terms:
27 - 3 = 24 , 24 - 3 = 21
Thus, the next term in the sequence would be obtained
by subtracting 3 from 21:
21 - 3 = 18
So, the missing term in the sequence 30, 27, 24, 21,
__ is 18.

4.The given sequence is 0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 1. Each term in the

sequence alternates between 0 and 1.

0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 1, ___
The sequence starts with 0. The next term is 1, indicating that the pattern
alternates between 0 and 1.
Following this pattern, the next term should be 0 since the previous term was
1.
Therefore, the next term in the sequence is 0.

5. 20, 25, 30, 35, ____

In this sequence, each term increases by 5 compared to the previous term.
This means that the common difference between consecutive terms is 5.
Starting with the first term, which is 20, we add 5 to it to get the second term:
20 + 5 = 25.
To find the third term, we again add 5 to the previous term: 25 + 5 = 30.
Continuing the pattern, we add 5 to the third term to find the fourth term: 30 +
5 = 35.
Therefore, the next term in the sequence would be obtained by adding 5 to
the last term, which is 35. So the next term is 35 + 5 = 40.
Word Pattern
- a set of numbers arranged in a sequence such that they are related to
each other in a specific rule.

1. Consonant Blends -words with a group of two or three

consonants that each make its own sound: (Blame, Crunch, Splash,
Truck, Swim, Strength, Clamp, Sprint, Grip, Twist).
2. Consonant digraphs and trigraphs -
words with two or three letters that come together
to create a single sound: (cheese, shoe, this,
phone, whale, catch, school, fudge, high, dear).
3. Vowel Dipthongs
-Words with vowels that glide in the middle (boat, coin, hear, hire,
house).
4.Complete the word pattern:

Rate, Reel, Ride, Road

The first word in the sequence is "Rate." It has 4 letters.

- The second word is "Reel." It also has 4 letters, which is the same as the
previous word "Rate." To form "Reel," the letter "l" is added to "Rate."

- The third word is "Ride." Like the previous word "Reel," it also has 4
letters. To form "Ride," the letter "d" is added to "Reel."

- The fourth word is "Road." Similar to the previous word "Ride," it also has
4 letters. To form "Road," the letter "a" is added to "Ride."
Therefore, the word pattern observed in this sequence is that each word
has 4 letters, and to form the next word, one additional letter is added to
the previous word. By following this pattern, the next word in the sequence
is " Road."
5.If the word pattern can encrypted as QBUUFSO, how can you code the
word HANDSOME?
The given encryption pattern is to shift each letter three positions to the
right in the alphabet.
- Starting with the word HANDSOME, let's encrypt each letter:
H -> K: The letter 'H' is shifted three positions to the right in the alphabet,
resulting in 'K'.
A -> D: The letter 'A' is shifted three positions to the right and becomes 'D'.

N -> Q: The letter 'N' is shifted three positions to the right and becomes
'Q'.
D -> G: The letter 'D' is shifted three positions to the right and becomes
'G'.
S -> V: The letter 'S' is shifted three positions to the right and becomes 'V'.
O -> R: The letter 'O' is shifted three positions to the right and becomes
'R'.
M -> P: The letter 'M' is shifted three positions to the right and becomes
'P'.
E -> H: The letter 'E' is shifted three positions to the right and becomes 'H'.

Thus, the encrypted form of the word HANDSOME using the given
encryption pattern is KDQGVPRH.
To summarize, each letter in the word HANDSOME is shifted three
positions to the right in the alphabet to obtain the coded form
KDQGVPRH.
