Follow the steps below to import Modicon Libraries - General Purpose into Control Expert
Step No Description
1. Download "Modicon Libraries - General Purpose 2020. zip" file from Schneider Electric “Industry
End Users and SI Campus”, and extract its contents.
2. Extract the "Modicon Libraries - General Purpose 2020 Setup. zip" file in your local hard disk to
get five GPL base libraries as shown below, to be imported in to Control Expert.
Existing Library - user must remove the Library family manually before installing the Latest

"Modicon Libraries - General Purpose".
Follow the below steps for removing the existing Library from the “Types Library Manager”.
Step – 1: Open Control Expert.
Step – 2: Go to Tools and click “Types Library Manager”.
Step – 3: Select the Library Family which needs to be removed and click “Delete”.
For Windows 10: - Click Start menu > EcoStruxure Control Expert > Types Library Update

For Windows 2012 Server: - Click Start menu > EcoStruxure Control Expert > Types Library
Update.
Step:2 – Go to family and select the “Family.DCS” file and click “Open”
7. Open Control Expert, Click Tools >Types Library Manager. User should able to see
"GPL_Communication" Library under "General Purpose Library".
9. User must install “Modicon Libraries - General Purpose 2020” and then “PRM Library” if
user needs both the Library in the system.

• Go to the DFB and right click and select the “Copy into Project”

• After update, the existing project goes to “Not Build” state, build the Control Expert project and
download to the controller.
