Printer Driver Configuration Files

The document discusses different printer driver configuration files that can be used to direct printing to a physical device or create file formats like PDF, TIFF, or JPG. It lists eight configuration files used by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to produce contract plans and other materials. These files allow adjusting settings like background color, line weights, and paper sizes and are used to print to specific devices or create files for different purposes like uploading to a database or creating high-resolution images.

Printer Driver Configuration Files

Different printer driver configuration files may be attached to direct the print to an actual hard-copy
printing device, rather than PDF, or to create TIFF or JPG format. The four PDF printer driver
configuration files allow you to change print settings of background color, line weight or levels. The
table below shows just the (*.pltcfg) files that ODOT has added for producing ODOT Contract Plans and
other ODOT products. Odotsizes_PDF.pltcfg is the printer driver configuration file that is used by every
ODOT “Design_” or “Sheet_” print style.
