HOT POINTS-
SUMMARY-
The story is about Amazon, a big online store. It was seen as a great company in 2014
and 2015 by a magazine called Fortune. But in 2015, a newspaper, The New York
Times, wrote something that changed how people thought about Amazon.
On one hand, the newspaper said Amazon was trying something new and bold. They
wanted their office workers to do really well and achieve big goals. This made Amazon
seem like an exciting place to work, where people were pushed to do their best.
But on the other hand, the newspaper also said working at Amazon was tough. They
said employees had to criticize each other's ideas and work using negative comments.
This made the work environment intense and sometimes stressful.
After the newspaper article, Amazon's good reputation dropped. Even the CEO, Jeff
Bezos, became less popular. People wondered if Amazon could still get and keep good
employees with this way of working.
This story shows how a company’s way of working can affect its success and what
workers think of it.
