ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer.

EDVAC stands for Electronic Discrete Variable Automatic Computer.

Von Neumann helped to develop those two computers. He began the
era of the computer and other smart devices. His innovation of storing
orders and data together brought a new milestone to the computer
history.

His architecture
Alan Turing, English Mathematician, Father of AI, and computers.
Turing public an article about Mathematics and calculation in real-life
problems, in the article, he mentioned about a machine that could help
in mathematical investigations, it was later called the “Turing machine”.

In the WW2, UK went against Germany, where Turing participated too.

But Germans had a special code where even if you capture their soldiers,
you won’t be able to get information from them.
Turing, with a team of more than 200 code scientists, were able to
create a machine to decode the messages, it was called “Bambi”, but
then a more efficient version (“Giant”) was created: it was able to
decifrate 84000 messages per month, instead of the 39000 form Bambi.
From that, Turing was able to save lives from 20M people, and received
a medal of honour from Britain.
In October of 1950, Turing published another article, the title was “Could
the machines think”, that article received a prize, and then Turing was
nominated as the “Father of AI”. He joined the British Royal Council at
39yo.
The article told that it would be a series of questions in 5 minutes, if the
machine could make more than the 30% of the testers think it was a
human, then the machine would be considered to have AI.
Curiosity: He was gae :(.

Components of a computer: CPU, cooler, mainboard, RAM, storage,

display, mouse, case, power supply and optical drive.
Hardware: Physical devices of a computer system
Software: Orders made for devices using programming languages, using
it to write apps, files, and data.
What we know about software:
 It will turn text, images, and other contents into “numbers”.
o What computer sees: Numbers, orders, and patterns,
written in programming languages
o What we see/hear: text, images, audio, videos, data, and
others.
The core of software: Calculations.
Software types:
 System software: It is the one that works more with the hardware,
normally, software only works through the system software.
 Application software: Specialised with a specific part of a
software.
Correlation between hardware and software:
 Software helps the hardware to expand and improve.
 Software will turn into instructions for hardware.

Software that is more correlated with the hardware part is called

“System software” to be easier manage the data in the PC.
 The function of the system software is to simplify the operations
in the computer and make the process more efficient.
This type of software has two characteristics:
1. Versatility: It can be used in a large range of applications, and the
computer user is going to use all of them
2. Basic: Even operating software can be edited and run.
Operating system: it has all data and resources, able to give a wide range
of services for the user, it is the control centre of the computer.
