What is Project Scheduling?
Project scheduling is defined into a process which is first: 1. Defining Activities. 2. Determining Sequence. Sa itong process na ito inaalam natin kung ano ang pagkakasunod sunod ng mga activies na gagawin para sa project. (For example clean up project, the sequence is first picking up trashes then next is mag walis then in the last sequence kay to throw the trash) 3. Estimating the duration. Kasi ang project is just a temporary work and not permanent, so When making a project we need to set a time dealine kung kailan dpat matatapos ang project.. SLIDE 4 GANTT CHART si Henry Gantt best known for his work in the development of scientific management. Siya ang nag himo sa Gantt chart around 1910’s which was a tool used for scheduling. A visual representaion of sequencing and duration of activities on any given project Meaning pinapakita lang schedules of the task or operating activies of the project Focus is on Tasks and Time Management Ang gantt chart mas naga focus lng siya sa kung unsa to ang task and what time or what time dpat mag start and mahuman ang tasks Easy to modify and edit the information If ang project naay ing ani nga type of scheduling, dali n lng kaayo iedit ang mga schedules or informations if somewhat there are any changes. SLIDE 5 So mao ni ang gantt chart mostly ginagamit sa pag schedule sa mga operating activities of the project so makita ninyo dri sa mga nakabutang sa pinaka gilid sa left mao na siya ang mga task na dapat himuon for the project and then and sa taas naman kay ang time na kung kanus-a dapat ma start and mahuman ang mga activities or task... for example naa project na ginahandle, which is to innovate or develop a new product so the first step of innovating diba is planning and brainstorming about the initial product or concept na dapat ma execute within January up to March and then after doing the planning next naman is research about the product needs na dapat i action within Feb up to March... next task naman is Designing the product on March up to April..and the next task is Implementation of the product innovation dapat magawa within april up to July and the last naman sa task of the project is follow up ito yung monitoring and evaluation of the impacts of a project or plan for management that should be done on Jun to July SLIDE 6 This project tool and technique which is work breakdown structure kay daghan kaayog advantages if gamiton nato in the project gina ties the project together. Ginapakita kung unsa ang scope sa project, mabal-an nato kung unsa na resources ang needed and ma estimate nato ang time and costs of each tasks in the project and also provides the basis for the schedule and the budget. In the next slide is an example of work breakdown structure SLIDE 7 So in this work breakdown structure we have a project which is a yard project. Makita ninyo dri gitunga sa lima ka tasks ang yard project ang first kaya ang cleanup which is to pick up trash, bag grass, hedge clippings, and haul to dump And kaduha naman kaya ng cut grass, and under naman sa task na cut grass, may mow front and back Sa katatlo na task is ang trimwork, which is under ani nga task is to weeds trees, and edge the sidewalks. And fourth kay ang mag prepare equipment, dri kay mag put gas in equipment og mag get our hedge clipper And the last task in the yard project is ang trim hedges. SLIDE 8 Network diagram is a type of project tools ginagamit to know what are the sequence or relationships of a tasks in the project by using boxes and arrows Under the network diagram, is the critical path scheduling SLIDE 9 Network rules So if mag himo aning networking diagram.. naay rules na dpat atong mabal-an (Read slide A to D) So we can only proceed to the other task if natapos na ang previous task like for example here... activity can only be performed only after natpaos na sa activity A. and activity C can only be performed only after natpaos na sa activity B. SLIDE 10 ang PERT ay isa sa pinaka lisod na project tools and technique kaya ng gina cintruct man gud dri is ang time and duration of a project kung kanus-a ang expected time na mahuman ang optimistic time of pessimistic time kaya ng minimum ang maximum periods of time kung pila ang duration ang is aka tasks sa project. While ang realistic time is the amount of time required for a task to be completed And the last ang expected times means gina pakita kung kanus-a mahuman ang buong project. SLIDE 11 So mao in ang example sa PERT Chart diri ginapakita ang sequence of task within the project para mabl-an kung unsa ang mga task, og unsay mga required in a task then para ma connect ang mga tasks, ma estimated ang time duration of a project and most importantly dali lang mamanage ang project. SLIDE 12 Kini siya is also one of the project tools na ginagamit pag mag project scheduling more importantly ginagamit para mabal-an kung pila ang estimated cost, duration and time sa project tasks and sa overall project In the next slide is an example of a critical path SLIDE 13 As you can see here in the figure it shows the sequence of each task in the project This small project might be thought of as having three phases: preparation, execution, and cleanup. There are three preparation tasks: pick up trash, put gas in equipment, and get out hedge clipper. The cleanup tasks include bagging grass, bundling clippings, and hauling trash to the dump. SLIDE 14 READ SLIDE 15 FORWARD PASS COMPUTATIONS It is a computation para mabal-an nato ang earliest finish times for all task or activities So mao ni ang sample sa critical path sa baba sa Box naa dra ang ES = Early Start LS = Late Start EF = Early Finish LF = Late Finish...kanang DU word is the duration and inside the small box sa loob ng box is the minutes... example project ani dri sa pic is project cleaning. Dri sa left side ang start sa critical path, all assuming that it starts at time zero jan sa ES naka lagay (next slide) (pick up trash) 0 ES + 15 (minutes) = 15 ilalagay yan sa EF (Early Finish) the same goes to... (Put gas in EQ) 0 ES + 5 (mins) = 5 (Get hedge) 0 ES + 5 (mins) = 5 Proceed naman tayo sa next since ang pick up trash and put gas in EQ is in line sa 3 ang kuwaon ani is kinsa ang highest EF so ang highest man is ang Pick trash which it has 15 Early finish mao na ang ibutang sa ES in the next 3 boxes. (trim weeds) 15 ES + 30 mins = 45 (Mow front) 15 ES + 45 mins = 60 in lined sa mow front is ang (mowback) 60 ES + 30 mins = 90 (Edge sidewalk) 15 ES + 15 mins = 30 next is trim wedge in lined siya sa get hedge na mat 5 EF so ilagay sa (Trim wedge) 5 ES + 15 mins = 35 next naman tayo so out of 4 boxes ang Mow back ang may pinaka malaking EF so ilalagay ang 90 sa next path na ES 90 so... ( Bag grass) 90 ES + 30 mins = 120 (bundle trash 90 ES + 15 mins = 105 And the in forwrd pass is Haul trash.... kunin natin kung saan ang highest sa dalawa si si 120 ang highst mao na atong ibutang sa ES sa haul trash... 120 ES + 45 mins = 165 SLIDE 16 BACKWARD PASS COMPUTATIONS it is made through the network to compute the latest start and latest finish times for each activity in the network. Dri gina compute nato kung kaunsa ka late na dinish ang project. For now para makuha ang LF or ang late finish copyhon lng tong sa early finish then i minus sa minutes na naka butang sa taas na box which is ang 45 HAUL TRASH 160 LF – 45 mins = 120 LS And then in the next path yung LS from previous path i copy and ibutang sa LF para sa next path BAG GRASS 120 LF – 30 mins = 90 LS BUNDLE TRASH 120 LF – 15 mins = 105 LS
Mow back 90 LF – 30 mins = 60 LS
TRIM WEEDS 90 LF – 30 mins = 60 LS MOW FRONT 60 LF – 45 mins = 15 LS WDGE SIDEWALK 90 LF – 15 mins = 75 LS TRIM HEDGE 90 LF – 30 mins = 60 LS PICK UP TRASH 15 LF – 15 mins = 15 LS PUT GAS 15 LF – 5 mins = 10 LS GET HEDGE 60 LF – 5 mins = 55 LS AFTER COMPUTING ALL THE PATHS NGAYON NAMAN PILIIN NATIN KUNG KINSA TUNG TAG-AS NA PATH DURATION – AND SA MAKITA NINYO SA EXAMPLE PICTURE NA MGA NAKA HIGHLIGHT NA BOXES MAO NA NA SIYA ANG CRITICIAL PATH it is because they have the highiest duration of sequence in the critical path. SLIDE 17 In this picture gina pakita ang differences sa PERT and sa CPM, ang pert is naga manage lang of unpredictable activities, focus lang sa time control mostly is just for probability lang like assuming kung kanus-a mahuman ang task sa project. While ang CPM naga manage of predictable activities, focus sa cost or budget na magagamit sa project, and ginadetermine jud kung kanus-a ang specific time na mahuman ang tasks sa project SLIDE 18 1.) Bago maghimo og schedule or other project tools and techniques, dapat inaalam muna natin ang ating mga tao, resources, and budget para malaman natin ang limitation na possibleng magagawa para ma avoid ang risk that we may encounter within the project. 2.) Ang meaning aning key point is dpat dili nato ihalo ang hour sa minutes. iskedyul ang lahat sa ilang minuto, pagkatapos ay i-convert sa mga oras at minuto as the last step. Para ma avoid ang errors 3.) It is also important to remember na walay single solution sa network problems which means That instance, another person might not design the arrow diagram exactly as you have. There may be diagram elements that must be completed in a specific order, but there is frequently flexibility. 4.) Schedule only sa makaya nato mamanaged just like in number 1, we should always consider our people, resources, and the budget.
