LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET NO. 2
FRACTIONS, DECIMALS AND PERCENTAGE
(The Application of Fraction, Decimal and Percent)
Student’s Name: ___________________________________________ Grade and Section: _____________________________
Date Received: _________________________ Date Submitted: ________________________________
I. INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT:
This lesson provides real-life scenario that illustrate various situations involving fractions, decimals and percent.
We shall concentrate more on how fractions and decimals as well as percent and percentages are used in real life.
II. LEARNING SKILLS FROM MELCs:
After going through the module, you are expected to:
a. Give real-life situation to illustrate fractions, decimals and percent (ABM_BM11FO-Ic-4)
b. Solve problems involving fractions, decimals and percent. (ABM_BM11FO-Id-5)
III. ACTIVITIES:
A. Let Us Review:
Let us recall the rules and steps in changing fractions, decimal and percentage to fractions, decimal and
percentage. Below is a figure summarizing the conversion of decimal, fractions and percent to decimal, fractions and
percent.
Concept 1: Changing Fractions, Decimal and Percent to Fractions, Decimal and Percentage

B. Let Us Study
We use decimals, fractions, and percent every day while dealing with money, weight, length, computing grades,
etc. They are important for understanding the financial aspects of everyday life.
Example:
• Time is commonly measured in fraction
• Checking of progress
• Prescription of medicine
• Interest Rate
• Rate of inflation
Let us try to answer this problem: After receiving her retirement pay, Mrs. Alvarado plans to put up a small
internet café in their barangay. Her total budget for the business is Php 600,000.00 and she allots Php 200,000.00
for computer units. If one computer unit costs Php 35,000.00, what part of her total budget will be actually spent for
computer units?
Solution:
We first compute the number of units Mrs. Alvarado can buy from Php 200,000.00,
200,000 40 5
= 𝑜𝑟 5
35,000 7 7
This means she can buy 5 units of computer, which cost Php 175,000.00. Thus the part of her budget to be
actually spent for computer is
175,000 7
=
600,000 24
7
Therefore, of her budget will be spent for computer units

C. Let Us Practice
TASK 1: WHAT AM I!
Directions: Identify the given real-life scenario if states the concept of Fraction, Decimal or Percent. Write
your answer in the space provided. (1 pt. each item)
1. Time consumed on social media 6. The speed of a vehicle
2. Senior citizen discount 7. Financial reports
3. Credit card interest 8. Rate in the increase of enrolment for senior high school

5. Division of inheritance as provided by the law 10. Computation of value added tax
1
TASK 2: LET US DO SOMETHING! Rubric for Task 2
Directions: Write three (3) real life problems that Source: www.iRubric.www.rcampus.com
illustrate each concept of fraction, decimal and
percent. Put your word problem and complete
solution on a separate sheet.

Example:

DECIMAL
Tina drove her car to the gas station for
refueling. If the price of the gasoline is Php 43.31
per liter and she paid Php1000 for gas purchase,
how many liters of gasoline were pumped into her
car? 𝐴𝑛𝑠𝑤𝑒𝑟: 23.09𝐿

PERCENT
A gadget cost Php ₱16000 before the 12%
vat. How much is the total cost of the gadget after
VAT? 𝐴𝑛𝑠𝑤𝑒𝑟: ₱17,920

TASK 3: I AM A PROBLEM SOLVER!

Directions: Solve each of the following problems. Show your complete work on a separate sheet.
1 1
1. Tina was asked to go to the market to buy 3 kilos of pork, kilo of cabbage and 8 pieces of saba. One kilo of
4 2
pork costs ₱190, 1 kilo of cabbage costs ₱ 60, and one piece of saba costs Php1.75. If Maria is given ₱820, will

D. Evaluation.
Directions: Solve the given real – life problem below. Show the complete solution for the following tasks on your
answer sheets. Note: Round off the percent into nearest hundredths and express the lowest term in fraction.
1. Alice needs 8 1/4 teaspoons of butter to bake bread. She has stick of butter (that is, 4.5 tablespoons) left from
her previous recipe. If a stick of butter costs Php 33.00, what will be the cost of the butter that she needs to
