Introduction :
Hello everyone today in this project i will share with you
some information about Elon musk .
Elon Musk, (born June 28, 1971, Pretoria, South Africa),
South African-born American entrepreneur who cofounded
the electronic-payment firm PayPal and formed SpaceX,
maker of launch vehicles and spacecraft. He was also one of
the first significant investors in, as well as chief executive
officer of, the electric car manufacturer Tesla. In addition,
Musk acquired Twitter in 2022.
After being accepted to a physics graduate degree
programmer at Stanford University, Mr Musk quickly
dropped out and founded two technology start-up
companies during the "dotcom boom" of the 1990s.
So first of all we will present : who’s Elon musk?
Who is Elon Musk :
South African-born entrepreneur and former Paypal co-
founder Elon Musk is one of the world's most prominent
billionaires. He is also the chief executive officer of Tesla, a
company that makes electric cars. His wealth is estimated at
over $70.5 billion, making him seventh in the world rankings.
Entrepreneur Elon Musk has achieved global fame as
the chief executive officer (CEO) of electric automobile
maker Tesla and the private space company SpaceX.
Musk was an early investor in several tech
companies, and in October 2022, he completed a deal to
take Twitter.
His success and personal style have given rise to
comparisons to other colorful tycoons from U.S. history,
including Steve Jobs, Howard Hughes, and Henry Ford. He
was named the richest person in the world with an
estimated net worth of $212 billion as of October 2022.
His early life:
Musk was born in Canada to a Canadian mother and a
South African father. Musk grew up with his head stuck
in books and computers. He was bullied by his
classmates and often beaten up by class bullies as a
little, timid youngster until he grew strong enough to
defend himself during a growth spurt in his teens. He
developed a video game at the age of 12 and sold it to a
computer magazine. Musk left South Africa in 1988 after
getting a Canadian passport because he refused to
support apartheid through compulsory military duty and
wanted to pursue the higher economic prospects offered
in the United States.
Elon Musk Qualifications :
Musk travelled to Canada at the age of 17 to attend
Queen's University and evade military service in South
Africa. Musk got his Canadian citizenship the same year;
partly because he thought, it would be easier to get
American citizenship that way. Musk moved to the
United States in 1992 to study business and physics at
the University of Pennsylvania. He earned an
undergraduate degree in economics before continuing to
earn a second bachelor's degree in physics. Musk went
to Stanford University in California to earn a Ph.D. in
energy physics after leaving Penn. But that Ph.D
couldn’t make it to Elon Musk Degrees since he walked
out of Stanford after only two days to start his first firm.
Elon Musk works :
In the summer of 1995, Musk relocated to Silicon Valley.
He enrolled at Stanford University's PhD programmed in
applied physics, but dropped out after only two days.
Kimball Musk, Elon's 15-month younger brother, had
recently graduated from Queen's University with a
business degree and had travelled to California to join
him. As the early Internet grew in popularity, the brothers
decided to develop a company called Zip2, an internet
business directory with maps. That is how Elon Musk
started entering into the business world.
Zip2 eventually recruited angel investors and grew into a
profitable firm thanks to the brothers' efforts. The
brothers sold Zip2 to Compaq for $307 million in 1999.
Elon subsequently went on to create his own online
financial services company, X.com. Confinity, a
company formed by Peter Thiel and two others mere
months after X.com and with headquarters in the same
building, was its main competitor. In March 2000, the two
firms joined and adopted the name of their major
product, PayPal, an online money transfer service for
individuals. In October 2002, Ebay, the online auction
site, purchased PayPal for $ 1.5 billion in Ebay stock.
Elon Musk, who had been the largest shareholder in
PayPal with 11.7% of the company's equity shares,
found himself with $165 million in Ebay stock at the age
of 31.
Since leaving PayPal, he has founded, co-founded,
and/or led companies focused on addressing three
distinct existential risks to humanity's long-term survival:
climate risk, single-planet dependency risk, and human
species obsolescence risk. Two of these companies,
SpaceX and Tesla Motors, he risked his entire early
fortune to build.
Elon Musk Success story:
Musk joined engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc
Tarpenning to help operate Tesla Motors in 2004, where
he played a key role in the development of the world's
first electric vehicle, the Tesla Roadster. Musk took over
as CEO and product architect after Eberhard was fired
from the company in 2007 due to a series of conflicts.
Tesla has grown to be one of the most popular and
desirable vehicle brands in the world under his
leadership.
Elon Musk's SpaceX has signed many high-profile
contracts with NASA and the US Air Force to
manufacture rockets and execute military missions.
Musk has been vocal about his desire to work with
NASA on a collaborative mission to deploy an astronaut
to Mars by 2025. Elon Musk has always been a
proponent of various space-age technologies, but it
hasn't always been a smooth journey for him. He went
on to become a small business owner and eventually the
CEO of two creative firms after being bullied in school.
But he made the decision to ascend from there and
never settle for anything less.
Tesla, in addition to creating electric automobiles, has a
strong presence in the solar energy sector, courtesy to
its purchase of SolarCity. This clean-energy services
company, which was founded in 2006, now develops two
rechargeable solar batteries that are primarily used for
stationary energy storage. The Powerwall is designed for
residential backup power and off-grid use, whereas the
Powerpack is designed for business or electric utility grid
use.
What is Elon Musk's net worth?
All those contradictions appears to be part of
his appeal - and it certainly hasn't stopped
him from amassing a fortune.
Forbes and Bloomberg had ranked him as the
world's richest person, with a net worth of
about $250bn. However, he has since been
knocked off that gilded perch by Bernard
Arnault, chief executive of French luxury
goods group LVMH, owner of brands such as
Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior.
Still, Mr Musk is not exactly impoverished
with a fortune of around $178bn. That's based
largely on the value of his shares in Tesla, of
which he owns more than 13%. The
company's stock soared in value - some say
unreasonably - in 2020 as the firm's output
increased and it started to deliver regular
profits. However, the shares have more than
halved this year, with some blaming the
distraction of the Twitter takeover for the
fall.
First company created (Zip2):
In 1995 he founded Zip2, a company that
provided maps and business directories to
online newspapers. In 1999 Zip2 was bought
by the computer manufacturer Compaq for
$307 million, and Musk then founded an
online financial services company, X.com,
which later became PayPal, which
specialized in transferring money online.
SpaceX:
Space Exploration Technologies Corp. is an
American spacecraft manufacturer, launcher,
and a satellite communications corporation
headquartered in Hawthorne, California. It
was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk with the
stated goal of reducing space transportation
costs to enable the colonization of Mars.
SpaceX is developing a satellite internet
constellation named Starlink to provide
commercial internet service. In January
2020, the Starlink constellation became the
largest satellite constellation ever launched,
and as of December 2022 comprises over
3,300 small satellites in orbit. The company
is also developing Starship, a privately
funded, fully reusable, super heavy-lift launch
for interplanetary and orbital spaceflight. It
is intended to become SpaceX's primary
orbital vehicle once operational, supplanting
the existing Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and
Dragon fleet. It will have the highest payload
capacity of any orbital rocket ever built on its
debut, which is scheduled for early 2023
pending a launch license.
SpaceX has made several achievements in
space exploration. These include making the
first privately developed liquid-propellant
rocket that reached orbit, the first private
company to launch, orbit, and recover a
spacecraft, the first private company to send
a spacecraft to the International Space
Station, the first to achieve vertical
propulsive landing of an orbital rocket
booster, the first to reuse such a booster, and
the first private company to send astronauts
to orbit and to the International Space
Station. In addition, SpaceX's Falcon 9
rockets have been flown and landed over one
hundred times.
Tesla:
Founded in 2003, Tesla strives to build a
sustainable energy ecosystem that helps the
world move towards a zero-emission future.
Today, hundreds of thousands of drivers in
the United States get behind the wheel of
Tesla’s groundbreaking electric vehicles,
which make up nearly 80% of the entire
market.
Tesla went public in 2010, creating a pitch
deck to win over investors. It worked — and
is now worth more than the remaining six top
car companies combined. But the
presentation called for an enhanced design
that matches the innovation, technology, and
intelligent design that Tesla is known for.
Enter: a revamped Tesla pitch deck that’s as
forward-thinking as the engineers behind the
brand.
Tesla Motors was incorporated in July 2003
by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning,
who financed the company until the Series A
round of funding.[63] Both men played active
roles in the company's early development
prior to Elon Musk's involvement.[64] Musk
led the Series A round of investment in
February 2004, joining Tesla's board of
directors as its chairman.[65] Musk took an
active role within the company and oversaw
Roadster product design at a detailed level,
but was not deeply involved in day-to-day
business operations.[66]
Following the financial crisis in 2008,[67]
Musk assumed leadership of the company as
CEO and product architect, positions he still
holds today. Tesla Motors first built an
electric sports car, the Tesla Roadster, with
sales of about 2,500 vehicles to 31 countries.
Tesla began delivery of its four-door Model S
sedan on June 22, 2012. It unveiled its third
product, the Model X, aimed at the
SUV/minivan market, on February 9, 2012; the
Model X launch was however delayed until
September 2015.[68][69][70] In addition to its
own cars, Tesla sells electric powertrain
systems to Daimler for the Smart EV,
Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive and
Mercedes A Class and to Toyota for the RAV4
EV. Musk was able to bring in both
companies as long-term investors in Tesla.
Xcom (PayPal) :
In March 1999, Musk co-founded X.com, an
online financial services and e-mail payment
company, with US$10 million from the sale of
Zip2.[30][37][39] One year later, the company
merged with Confinity,[38][41] which had a
money transfer service called PayPal. The
merged company focused on the PayPal
service and was renamed PayPal in 2001.
PayPal's early growth was driven mainly by a
viral marketing campaign where new
customers were recruited when they
received money through the service.[42]
Musk was later ousted from his role as CEO
over disagreements regarding the future
architecture of PayPal as a proponent of
Microsoft Windows.[43] In October 2002,
PayPal was acquired by eBay for US$1.5
billion in stock, of which US$165 million was
given to Musk.[44] Before its sale, Musk, who
was the company's largest shareholder,
owned 11.7% of PayPal's shares.
Conslusion :
To conclude, Elon Musk is a good, strong leader due to
having a powerful vision and desire for the pursuit of that
vision and the fact that he can spread that enthusiasm
and determination to those who work for him, creating
positive and progressive companies to better the lives of
others into the future.
