4.4.7 Ozone Resistance - Same as SAE J30 for SAE30R7 hose.

4.4.8 Temperature Cycling
4.4.8.1 Method
Test per SAE J1019 Temperature Cycling Test except as indicated in Section 4.4.8.1.1.
4.4.8.1.1 Obtain production fittings and/or clamps as appropriate. Assemble hoses and fittings as
specified for a production assembly. Where applicable, each hose fitting shall have a sight hole drilled
into the fitting at the point where the hose end bottoms out. Each assembly shall be at least 150mm (6
inches) long and there shall be at least 6 assemblies per coupling type based on hose nipples. For
instance, crimp assemblies shall require only 6 sets per size as the nipple is constant regardless of
terminal end configuration. But, clamped joints will require six sets of each nipple/clamp combination
since the nipple may change by connection. Weigh assemblies empty. Fill the assembly with the
specified fluid and reweigh. Assemble to an air manifold in a controllable environmental chamber.
Pressurize assemblies to 340 kPa (50 psi) and cycle as specified except that the maximum temperature
shall be 125 C.
4.4.8.2 Required
No visible fluid leakage is permitted during the test. Minor air leakage around the end fittings or due to
air entrapment in the braid is permitted. Final weight measurements shall not have more than a 3% fluid
weight loss. Assemblies shall pass a Proof test without leakage.
4.4.9 Performance Requirements for Labeling
These tests requirements are to assure that any labeling or marking on the hose is durable enough to
last through the warranty period of the part that the labeling is being applied to
4.4.9.1 QUV Test (100 hour)
4.4.9.1.1 Test Method: Perform test per ASTM G 154 (FS-40 bulbs) with the following test cycle:
8 hours ultraviolet light - 4 hours condensing humidity - Repeat until 100 hour exposure is complete
4.4.9.1.2 Required: No visible sign of degradation
4.4.9.2 Abrasion Resistance
4.4.9.2.1 Method: Test per ASTM D 3884 (RPDH). Use CS-10 wheel, 250 gram load, 100 cycles.
4.4.9.2.2 Required: Labeling or marking must not smear and must remain legible as compared to the
go / no go picture described in section 7.1.1.4.1.

5.0 QUALITY
All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sharp edges, or defects harmful to product
performance. Parts and assemblies shall meet the cleanliness requirements of CEMS F-2. All rubber
debris from cutting and processing shall be removed. Any internal release agents shall be flushed
from the inside of the hose. There shall be no fabric or flash exposed on the ID of the hose. Parts
shall be free of voids and/or reinforcement splices.
5.1 Qualification
Material and processes submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following:
5.1.1 Report: A detailed and signed test report documenting testing to this specification prepared as
per TMS-9543. The report will include actual test data not merely test summaries.
5.1.2 Failure Modes: Test samples or photographs showing failure modes for each destructive test.
5.1.3 Test Procedure: The procedure used for preparing, curing and assembling materials for test.
5.1.4 Analysis: A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, unexpected results
and an explanation of any non-compliant results.
