This specification may involve hazardous materials, equipment, and procedures. This specification does not purport to address all of
the safety issues associated with its use. The user is responsible to consult appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the
applicability of regulatory limits prior to use.
Change Notice: Added Note after Table 1. Switched format to MPAPS
1.0 APPLICATION
This specification covers fuel and oil resistant, fabric reinforced rubber hose suitable for use with
diesel fuel, oil, or power steering fluid hoses with clamped joints or fitted connections. If Type is not
specified on the Engineering drawing, Type I shall be supplied. Type II is no longer available and
shall be replaced by Type VI per MPAPS F-6016 unless Engineering approves use of Type I material.
2.0 SCOPE
This specification covers the general requirements, labeling/identification, property and performance
requirements, qualification, and source approval and quality control.
2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances
Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply
with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification.
This document is restricted and may not be sent outside Navistar, Inc. or reproduced without permission from Corporate Technical Standards.
Suppliers are required to assume all patent liability. 2015 by Navistar, Inc.
NOTE: For formed hoses with expanded ends, the wall thickness of the expanded end should be 4.0 ±
0.8mm for hose ID sizes between 9.0mm and 25.4mm.

4.4.3.1.4. Apply a vacuum of 81 kPa (24 inches of Hg) for sizes less than 12.7mm (1/2 inch) ID; 34
kPa (10 inches of Hg) for sizes 12.7 mm to 25.4 mm (1/2 to 1 inches) ID; and 10 kPa (40 inches of
water) for sizes greater than 25.4 mm (1 inch) ID for a min of 15 seconds and max of 60 seconds.
4.4.3.1.5 Measure the OD at the marked locations while under vacuum.
4.4.3.2 Required
Diameter shall not decrease by more than 20% during application of a vacuum.
4.4.4 Aged Properties
4.4.4.1 Method - 1
Expose sample for 600 hours at 125 ± 2°C (255 ± 5°F), while wrapped 180° over a mandrel with a
diameter of 10X the nominal OD. After exposure, remove and slowly straighten (taking 4 to 8
seconds).
4.4.4.1.1 Required: Sample shall show no cracks, charring or disintegration externally or internally.
4.4.4.2 Method - 2
Expose samples for 70 hours at 125°±2°C (255°±5°F)
4.4.4.2.1 Required:
Hose: Pass cold flexibility; See Section 4.4.2
Tube and cover: Tensile change -20% max
Elongation change -60% max
Hardness change -5, +20 pts
4.4.5 Kink Resistance - Bulk Hose Only
Same as SAE J30 for SAE30R7 hose. For hose I.D. greater than or equal to 5/8”, use Table 3 below.

5.0 QUALITY
All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sharp edges, or defects harmful to product
performance. Parts and assemblies shall meet the cleanliness requirements of CEMS F-2. All rubber
debris from cutting and processing shall be removed. Any internal release agents shall be flushed
from the inside of the hose. There shall be no fabric or flash exposed on the ID of the hose. Parts
shall be free of voids and/or reinforcement splices.
5.1 Qualification
Material and processes submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following:
5.1.1 Report: A detailed and signed test report documenting testing to this specification prepared as
per TMS-9543. The report will include actual test data not merely test summaries.
5.1.2 Failure Modes: Test samples or photographs showing failure modes for each destructive test.
5.1.3 Test Procedure: The procedure used for preparing, curing and assembling materials for test.
5.1.4 Analysis: A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, unexpected results
and an explanation of any non-compliant results.

6.3 Process Control
The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using
ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a
state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part
supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and
reporting requirements on specific products.

7.1.1.4 Legibility: Shall be labeled/marked in clear/legible capital letters not less than 3 mm high
7.1.1.4.1 Appearance Approval Report: Supplier to submit a go/no go picture of what is acceptable
and not acceptable, using the Appearance Approval Report – to be signed off by the customer.
7.1.1.4.2 Training: Supplier to include, in their control plan, training of the operator to determine what
conditions are acceptable and non-acceptable.
7.1.1.4.3 Quality Control Plan: Supplier to include a detailed description of the maintenance plan for
this process in the quality control plan.
7.2 Identification: Additional Requirements
Identification shall include the Fleetrite Brand Identifier*, dimensional information (ID fraction), the
vendor code, the date code, and the part number. Unless otherwise designated on the purchase order
or contract, part numbers to be used for each size of hose shall be as indicated in Table 2. An example
of the required identification is shown below.
* The design and use of the Fleetrite Brand Identifier on products marketed by the Company is
controlled by the Parts Marketing Division of the Parts Operation.
