How are you today? Well, I’m (Raefauzan) from (SMPIT Madani) want to tell you about a
legend from west Sumatra, Do you know what is that ? Yups, it’s about Malin Kundang. Hope
my story can entertain you and make you happy. Ok, everybody… let’s check this out !

A long time ago in a small village near the beach in west Sumatra , there lived a woman and her son,
Malin Kundang. MalinKundang’s father had died when he was a baby, so he had to live hard with his
mother. Malin Kundang was healthy, diligent and strong boy. He usually went to the beach to catch fish
and brought it to his mother or sold it in town.

One day when Malin Kundang was fishing as usual, he saw a merchant’s ship which was being raided by
a small band of pirates. With his brave and power, Malin Kundang defeated the pirates. The merchant
was so happy and asked Malin Kundang to sail with him. Malin Kundang agreed.

The merchant : thank you MalinKundang

Malin : oh, you’re welcome sir
The merchant :would you sail with me, please?
Malin : with my pleasure sir !
And then MalinKundang went home.
Malin : Mom, may I go sailing ?
Malin’s mother : why should you go sailing ?
Malin : because I want to change our live. I want to be a rich man. Don’t worry mom, I
love you so much I will come back home I promise.
Malin’s mother : Ok, you may go but please always pray remember.

And then MalinKundang went sailing with the merchant. Years by years past by, finally MalinKundang
became a wealth merchant with a huge ship. Loaded of trading goods and many ship crews, Malin
Kundang had a wish. He wanted to marry to a rich woman. Then he met a princess, her name was Puan
Azizah. She was a noblewoman. They were married. MalinKundang loved his wife so much and his wife
was too. They got happy life. Mallin Kundang went sailing with many ship crew and his wife. In journey
Puan Azizah asked him.

Azizah : my dear, where is your mother? I want to meet her

Malin : my mother had passed away when I was a child
Azizah : really? Are you sure? Oh I’m sorry to hear that
MalinKundang felt ashame to his wife because her mother was not a noble one.
Azizah : is she noblewoman like me?
Malin : yes, she was noblewoman like you
And then the ship landed on a beach, the villagers recognized who was coming and the news spreaded
fast in Malin’s village.
The villagers : Malin Kundang become a rich man 3x
His mother felt sad for many years because of her loneliness. Now she felt glad after hearing that Malin
had become a rich man and came back to his village again. Then she went to the beach by hoping she
could meet her beloved son there.
Malin’smoter : oh God thank you so much you listen to my pray Malin Kundang is back and I
need my son and I will come to see him.
When Malin’s mother saw Malin got down from the ship, Malin’s mother walked and called him.
Malin’s mother : oh Malin my son, come closer to me please! I miss you so much come here
please I’m your mother
Azizah : my dear, who is the dirty ugly old woman?
Malin : I don’t know I think she is a beggar
Malin’s mother : oh Malin, I’myour mother, why do you forget me?
Malin : enough old women I never had mother like you. My mother was dead and she
was a noblewoman not like you. You are disgusting smell bad. Stay away from
me!
Malin’s mother : (crying)… oh Malin how could you be like this. I took care you with all my
love. Oh Malin I have waited for meeting you for a long time. I miss you so
much but now you deny me as your mother. (pray).. oh God help me please…
help me remind him
Malin’s mother : ok Malin, to prove who is right, see what will happen. If I’m your mother you’ll
be a stone but if I lie to you I’ll be a stone.
Malin : what are you talking about old lady (laugh) hahaha….

Suddenly a thunder roaded. It wrecked Malin’s ship. He was thrown by the wave of his ship.and then
suddenly MalinKundang became a stone.
Ok ladies and gentlemen, that’s the end of my story. What can we learn from this story? Yups we should
love and respect our mother however and whoever she is. Because our paradise is in our mother’s feet.
Ok everybody thank you for your attention and I’m sorry if I made a mistakes.
